Python Site Reliability Engineer

Job Summary :

We are looking for a highly skilled Python SRE Engineer who can seamlessly balance site reliability engineering responsibilities with greenfield backend development. This role is structured as 80% new internal tool development and 20% production operations, with a strong focus on RHEL 9 upgrades, automation, and reliability engineering best practices.

The ideal candidate is passionate about building scalable systems from the ground up, excels in Python-based backend engineering, and has hands-on experience operating and automating Linux-based infrastructure in containerized environments.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Greenfield Development (80%) :

- Design, develop, and deliver a new internal operational tool using modern backend engineering principles.

- Build scalable, secure, and high-performance Python-based REST APIs.

- Integrate internal services and third-party systems through efficient API interactions.

- Write clean, maintainable, testable, and well-documented Python code.

- Participate in peer code reviews and enforce coding standards and best practices.

- Contribute across the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.

- Collaborate with SRE, DevOps, and platform teams to ensure reliability and operational readiness of new solutions.

2. Technical Operations RHEL 9 Upgrade Support (20%) :

- Collaborate with operations teams to plan, test, and execute RHEL 9 upgrades across environments.

- Identify and mitigate compatibility issues, performance risks, and system bottlenecks during upgrades.

- Develop automation scripts and tooling to streamline RHEL provisioning, configuration, and upgrades.

- Monitor system health post-upgrade and proactively troubleshoot production issues.

- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response when required.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Python Engineer, SRE, or DevOps Engineer.

- Strong proficiency in Python for backend development, scripting, and automation.

- Solid experience with Linux systems, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

- Hands-on expertise with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

- Strong experience with Kubernetes-based CI/CD promotion pipelines (Dev UAT Prod).

- Proven experience in designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs.

- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Git-based version control, and release management.

- Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work independently in a remote, distributed team environment.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
