Responsibilities :

- Analyse existing Perl scripts and convert them into Python.

- Ensure functional equivalence between old and new scripts.

- Rewrite and optimise scripts for readability, maintainability, and performance.

- Perform unit testing, regression testing, and debugging.

- Work with file processing, regex, shell commands, APIs, and database interactions as needed.

- Collaborate with the client and internal teams to understand script behaviour and dependencies.

- Document migrated scripts and support deployment/testing activities.

Requirements :

- Mandatory Skills : Python with Perl (Python, Linux, and some exposure to Perl scripts in Python).

- Experience in Python development.

- Strong experience in Python scripting and automation.

- Good understanding of Perl scripts and legacy code conversion.

- Strong knowledge of regex, file handling, and text processing.

- Experience working in Linux/Unix environments.

- Hands-on experience with debugging, testing, and code validation.

- Experience with Git and version control.

Good-to-Have Skills :

- Experience in Perl to Python migration projects.

- Exposure to API integration and database-driven scripts.

- Experience with pytest or similar testing frameworks.

- Familiarity with shell scripting and job schedulers like cron.

- Client-facing communication skills.

Preferred Candidate Profile :

- Experience working on modernisation or migration projects.

- Ability to understand business logic from legacy code.

- Strong problem-solving and independent working capability.

- Good communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
