Senior Associate Data Engineering (Level 2)
As a Senior Associate L2 Data Engineering, you will translate client requirements into scalable technical designs and implement robust data engineering solutions. You will independently drive design discussions, apply big data design principles, and ensure the overall health, performance, and scalability of data platforms built primarily on AWS using Scala-based frameworks.
Your Impact :
- Design and build end-to-end data ingestion, integration, and transformation pipelines (batch and real-time)
- Develop high-performance data processing frameworks using distributed computing engines
- Optimize data storage, computation, and query performance
- Enable analytics, search, and aggregation use cases
- Work across cloud infrastructure, data platforms, and data management systems
Key Responsibilities :
- Build scalable data ingestion pipelines from multiple heterogeneous sources (batch and streaming)
- Develop and optimize real-time and near-real-time data pipelines
- Implement analytics-ready data layers for downstream consumption
- Contribute to architecture and design decisions to ensure reliability and scalability
Your Skills & Experience :
- 5.5+ years of overall experience, with 4+ years in Big Data/Data Engineering
- Strong working knowledge of AWS data services, including: S3, EMR, Glue, Redshift, Athena, Lambda, Kinesis
- Strong proficiency in Scala (primary) for building distributed data applications (Java/Python exposure is a plus)
- Strong hands-on experience with the Hadoop ecosystem :
- HDFS, Kafka, Pulsar, NiFiSpark, Spark Streaming, Flink, StormHive, Oozie, Airflow
- Hands-on experience with NoSQL and MPP data platforms, such as:
- HBase, MongoDB, Cassandra
- Experience building and operating data platforms on AWS-native architectures
- Bachelors degree with 6 to 8 years of relevant experience, or equivalent practical expertise
Set Yourself Apart With :
- Hands-on experience with traditional ETL tools (Informatica, Talend)
- Strong SQL and RDBMS experience (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server)
- Knowledge of data governance concepts and tools (security, lineage, catalog) such as Collibra, Alation
- Experience with distributed messaging systems (ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, Solace)
- Exposure to search & indexing platforms and microservices-based architectures
- Proven ability in performance tuning and optimisation of large-scale data pipelines
- AWS or Big Data certifications (preferred)
