Role Overview :

We are seeking an experienced Red Hat OpenShift Resident Engineer to be embedded on-site (or dedicated remote/hybrid) with the customer to operate, manage, and optimize a newly deployed Dell AI Factory platform.

The Resident Engineer will act as a trusted technical advisor, responsible for the day-to-day stability, performance, and lifecycle management of the AI infrastructure stack, with a strong focus on Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, and supporting platforms.

This role will ensure the AI Factory environment is production-ready, highly available, secure, and scalable, while enabling data science and AI workloads to run efficiently.

Key Responsibilities :

Platform Operations & Management :

- Act as the primary technical owner for the customers Dell AI Factory environment running on Red Hat OpenShift

- Perform day-to-day administration of OpenShift clusters (bare metal or virtualized)

- Manage cluster lifecycle activities including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and scaling

- Monitor platform health, capacity, and performance; proactively identify and resolve issues

- Manage Kubernetes resources, namespaces, networking, and storage integrations

AI & Infrastructure Enablement :

- Support AI/ML workloads deployed on the Dell AI Factory platform (training, inference, GPU workloads)

- Work with data science and application teams to onboard workloads to OpenShift

- Optimize platform configurations for performance, availability, and resource efficiency

- Assist in integrating AI platforms (e.g., model pipelines, monitoring, CI/CD workflows) as required

Storage, Networking & Compute :

- Manage and integrate enterprise storage solutions (e.g., Red Hat Ceph or equivalent)

- Troubleshoot networking issues across container, cluster, and infrastructure layers

- Ensure optimal configuration of compute resources including GPU-enabled nodes

Automation & DevOps :

- Use Ansible and automation tools for repeatable operations and configuration management

- Support CI/CD pipelines and GitOps-style operations where applicable

- Promote infrastructure-as-code and operational best practices

Security & Reliability :

- Implement and enforce security best practices across OpenShift and Kubernetes

- Manage role-based access control (RBAC), certificates, and secrets

- Support platform hardening, compliance, backup, and disaster recovery processes

Advisory & Knowledge Transfer :

- Act as a trusted advisor to customer IT and engineering teams

- Provide hands-on knowledge transfer, documentation, and operational runbooks

- Participate in architecture discussions and provide recommendations for platform evolution

- Liaise with Red Hat and Dell support when required

Required Skills & Experience :

Technical Requirements :

- Strong experience administering Red Hat OpenShift in production environments

- Solid hands-on knowledge of Kubernetes, containers, and cluster operations

- Experience with bare-metal OpenShift and/or virtualized environments

- Experience with enterprise storage, preferably Red Hat Ceph

- Familiarity with AI/ML platforms and GPU-based workloads is highly desirable

- Experience with Linux system administration

- Hands-on experience with Ansible or similar automation tools

Certifications (Preferred) :

- Red Hat Certified OpenShift Administrator (RHCOA or equivalent)

- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)

- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)

- Additional OpenStack or virtualization certifications are a plus

Professional Experience :

- 8+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure, cloud, or platform engineering

- Previous experience working as a Resident Engineer, Consultant, or Embedded Engineer

- Strong troubleshooting skills across application, platform, and infrastructure layers

- Experience working in customer-facing roles within enterprise environments
