Role Overview :
We are looking for an experienced Principal Software Engineer to drive the architecture, design, and development of large-scale distributed systems. This role is ideal for a technology leader who combines deep technical expertise with strategic thinking, engineering excellence, and strong mentorship skills.
As a Principal Engineer, you will influence engineering direction across the organization, establish technical standards, solve complex architectural challenges, and build highly scalable, reliable, and high-performance software platforms. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams while mentoring engineers and shaping engineering culture.
Key Responsibilities :
Technical Leadership :
- Define and drive engineering best practices across architecture, software design, quality, performance, security, and operational excellence.
- Lead the design and delivery of complex software platforms, products, and distributed systems.
- Establish long-term technology strategies and architectural roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
- Drive technical innovation by evaluating and adopting modern technologies and engineering practices.
Architecture & System Design :
- Design scalable, fault-tolerant, and highly available distributed systems.
- Make architectural decisions balancing scalability, performance, maintainability, and operational efficiency.
- Review system architecture and ensure engineering solutions meet reliability and security standards.
- Solve complex engineering challenges involving distributed computing and high-volume transaction systems.
Engineering Excellence :
- Lead design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions across multiple engineering teams.
- Promote engineering best practices including automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and performance optimization.
- Ensure high-quality software delivery through strong development standards and engineering discipline.
- Identify technical risks, estimate engineering efforts, and drive timely execution.
Cross-functional Collaboration :
- Partner with Product Management, Design, Infrastructure, Security, and Business stakeholders to deliver end-to-end product capabilities.
- Provide technical leadership across multiple teams and engineering initiatives.
- Communicate technical strategies and trade-offs to both technical and business stakeholders.
People Leadership & Mentorship :
- Mentor senior engineers and engineering leaders to strengthen technical capability across the organization.
- Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Support hiring by interviewing, evaluating, and attracting high-caliber engineering talent.
- Represent the engineering organization in internal and external technical communities.
Required Qualifications :
- 12+ years of software engineering experience building large-scale distributed systems and internet-scale applications.
- Proven expertise in designing scalable, high-performance, and fault-tolerant software architectures.
- Strong proficiency in multiple programming languages and technology stacks.
- Deep understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and software architecture principles.
- Experience leading complex engineering projects and mentoring engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, concurrency, and cloud-native architectures.
- Experience designing data-intensive web applications and backend platforms.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth product environments.

- Experience contributing to open-source projects.
- Active GitHub profile with personal or side projects.
- Experience working in product-based technology companies.
