About the Role :

We are looking for a highly experienced Principal Flutter Engineer to lead the design, development, and technical evolution of our mobile applications. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Flutter and Dart, a deep understanding of mobile architecture, and a proven ability to drive engineering best practices across teams. This role combines hands-on engineering, architecture, technical leadership, and mentoring. You will work closely with Product, Design, Backend, QA, and Engineering teams to build scalable, reliable, and high-performance mobile experiences.

Key Responsibilities :

- Own the technical architecture and development of high-quality Flutter applications for iOS and Android.

- Design scalable, maintainable, and testable mobile application architectures.

- Drive technical decisions around Flutter, Dart, state management, networking, persistence, security, and performance.

- Lead development of complex and business-critical mobile features from concept through production.

- Establish and enforce coding standards, engineering best practices, and design patterns.

- Conduct architecture and code reviews, ensuring high standards of quality and maintainability.

- Identify and resolve performance, stability, scalability, and technical debt issues.

- Work closely with Product and Design teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.

- Collaborate with backend engineers to define APIs, data models, and integration patterns.

- Establish best practices around CI/CD, automated testing, release management, and app observability.

- Mentor senior engineers and contribute to the growth of the broader mobile engineering team.

- Evaluate new technologies and frameworks and recommend their adoption where appropriate.

- Take ownership of production issues and drive root-cause analysis and long-term fixes.

- Contribute to the overall engineering strategy and technical roadmap.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 10 - 12 years of software engineering experience, with significant experience in mobile application development.

- 4+ years of strong hands-on experience with Flutter and Dart.

- Proven experience building and scaling production-grade Flutter applications for both Android and iOS.

- Strong understanding of Flutter architecture, widget lifecycle, rendering, navigation, and performance optimization.

- Expertise with state management approaches such as Bloc/Cubit, Provider, Riverpod, or equivalent.

- Strong understanding of mobile application architecture and design patterns such as Clean Architecture, MVVM, or similar approaches.

- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, authentication, and third-party service integrations.

- Experience with local storage/database technologies and offline-first or resilient application design.

- Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, concurrency, and Dart isolates.

- Experience with unit, widget, integration, and end-to-end testing.

- Hands-on experience with Git, CI/CD, automated builds, and mobile release pipelines.

- Strong understanding of Android and iOS application lifecycle and platform-specific considerations.

- Experience troubleshooting complex production issues, crashes, memory leaks, and performance bottlenecks.

- Strong understanding of secure mobile application development.

Principal-Level Expectations :

- Demonstrated ownership of end-to-end technical architecture for large-scale mobile products.

- Ability to make pragmatic architecture and technology decisions while balancing scalability, performance, delivery timelines, and maintainability.

- Experience leading technical initiatives across multiple engineering teams.

- Strong system-design and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to influence engineering practices without relying solely on formal authority.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.

- Proven ability to mentor and develop senior engineers and technical leaders.

Good to Have :

- Experience with native Android/Kotlin or iOS/Swift development.

- Experience with Firebase, Crashlytics, analytics, push notifications, deep linking, and remote configuration.

- Experience with AWS, GCP, or other cloud platforms.

- Experience with modular Flutter applications and monorepo architectures.

- Experience with app performance monitoring and observability tools.

- Experience building applications at significant scale.

- Contributions to open-source projects or a strong technical portfolio.

We are looking for someone who is hands-on, technically strong, and architecture-minded - someone who can write production-quality Flutter code while also shaping engineering standards and technical direction. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating at both levels: deep in the code when required and working across teams to solve larger engineering problems.

Education :

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
