Overview :

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Cloud Application Architect to define the technical vision and execution strategy for our next generation of cloud-native applications. This role is a blend of hands-on architecture, technical leadership, and strategic mentorship, responsible for driving adoption of modern patterns across our development teams.

This individual will serve as the technical authority on the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and cloud best practices, ensuring all applications are secure, scalable, and maintainable.

Key Responsibilities :

Technical Leadership & Guidance :

- SDLC Governance : Serve as the chief guide for the entire Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), establishing best practices for code quality, testing, deployment, and operational excellence for engineering teams.

- Define, standardize, and continually refine the technical engagement lifecycle to ensure alignment with product strategy and faster time-to-market.

- Run Technical Cohorts : Design and lead regular technical training sessions, workshops, and cohorts to uplift the expertise of the entire engineering staff in cloud architecture, security, and modern design patterns.

Cloud Architecture & Development :

- AWS Expertise : Act as the subject matter expert (SME) on AWS cloud architecture, specifically designing and overseeing the construction of highly scalable, reliable, and cost-optimized applications using core AWS services.

- Modernization : Drive the implementation of modern application architectures, focusing heavily on microservices, serverless components (e.g., Lambda, Fargate), event-driven systems, and API-first design principles.

- Review and approve technical designs, ensuring all applications adhere to performance standards, security requirements, and architectural best practices.

Mentorship & Culture :

- Mentor senior and principal engineers on complex design challenges, technical debt reduction strategies, and future technology roadmaps.

- Evangelize a culture of technical rigor, automation, and continuous improvement across all development teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

- 10+ years in software development and technical leadership roles, with 5+ years focused specifically on application architecture.

- Deep, demonstrable experience building and scaling applications on the AWS cloud.

- Expert-level understanding of modern application architectures including microservices, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and event streaming (e.g., Kafka/Kinesis).

- Proven ability to guide development teams through complex SDLC processes and enforce standards for quality and security.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts for both engineering and executive audiences.
