Roles and Responsibilities :
- Create and maintain documentation : Develop user guides, in-app help text, API documentation, tutorials, FAQs, and release notes for new and existing features.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams : Work closely with product managers, developers, designers, QA, and customer support to gather technical details and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Develop subject-matter expertise : Gain a deep understanding of our SaaS and AI/ML products, their features, and workflows to anticipate user needs and pain points.
- Plan and manage content strategy : Define documentation structure, information architecture, and delivery methods for optimal user comprehension and accessibility.
- User advocacy : Review UI text and microcopy to ensure clarity, consistency, and user-centered language across interfaces.
- Incorporate feedback : Continuously refine content based on input from users, product teams, and support feedback channels.
- Leverage content management systems : Author, organize, and publish documentation using CMS or Help Authoring Tools (HATs) such as Confluence, MadCap Flare, or ReadTheDocs.
- Maintain standards and style guides : Establish and enforce documentation standards, ensuring consistency of tone, terminology, and format across all materials.
- Visual documentation : Create diagrams, visuals, and flowcharts using tools like Lucidchart, Draw.io, or Mermaid to enhance content clarity.
- SEO and discoverability : Apply SEO principles to improve online help content visibility and user engagement.
Education, Skills, and Experience Requirements :
- Education : Bachelors degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience : 4+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably within SaaS, AI, or software product environments.
- Technical proficiency : Ability to understand APIs, data workflows, and technical architectures; basic familiarity with programming (Python, JavaScript, etc.) preferred.
- Tools and platforms : Experience with help authoring tools (MadCap Flare, Confluence, Notion), version control systems (Git), and screen capture software (Snagit, Camtasia).
- Communication skills : Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences.
- Attention to detail : Exceptional organizational skills and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality documentation.
- Collaboration : Proven ability to work effectively in agile, cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Portfolio : Strong portfolio showcasing a range of documentation (user guides, API docs, tutorials, or technical blogs).
- SEO knowledge : Understanding of SEO best practices for structuring and publishing discoverable documentation.
