JD - Power BI Lead Developer

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Power BI Lead Developer with strong expertise in Power BI and working knowledge of Tableau to review AI-generated solutions and lead complex remediation activities. The role will focus on reviewing semantic models, DAX, and M code; optimizing report performance and user experience; defining reusable development templates; conducting peer reviews; and approving reports for QA.

Must-Have Skills:

- 8 - 12 years of experience in Power BI development.

- Strong hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.

- Strong expertise in DAX and Power Query (M).

- Strong SQL skills for data analysis, validation, and troubleshooting.

- Strong experience in semantic data modeling.

- Experience optimizing Power BI report and model performance.

- Experience reviewing and remediating AI-generated Power BI solutions.

- Strong understanding of Power BI development and reporting best practices.

- Experience conducting peer reviews of developer output.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills.

- Working experience with Tableau, with Power BI as the primary BI platform.

Good-to-Have Skills:

- Experience working on BI migration or modernization projects.

- Experience reviewing and remediating complex BI solutions.

- Experience defining reusable Power BI development templates and standards.

- Experience with enterprise-scale Power BI environments.

- Experience optimizing report user experience and visualization design.

- Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to Power BI developers.

- Exposure to automated or AI-generated BI development and migration solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

- Review AI-generated Power BI solutions and identify technical, functional, and performance issues.

- Review and validate semantic models to ensure appropriate structure, relationships, and business logic.

- Review and remediate DAX expressions and Power Query (M) transformations.

- Lead complex remediation activities across Power BI reports, models, and data transformations.

- Optimize Power BI models and reports for performance, scalability, and responsiveness.

- Review and improve report user experience (UX), including visual design and usability.

- Define reusable Power BI templates, patterns, and development standards to improve consistency and efficiency.

- Conduct peer reviews of developer output and provide technical feedback and recommendations.

- Identify recurring development issues and recommend improvements to development practices.

- Collaborate with developers and relevant stakeholders to resolve complex technical issues.

- Validate completed remediation work and ensure solutions meet defined technical and business requirements.

- Approve Power BI reports for progression to QA following technical review and validation.

- Support knowledge sharing and provide technical guidance to Power BI development teams.

Qualification:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

- Relevant Power BI or Microsoft certifications are preferred.
