About the Opportunity :

We are looking for a skilled and experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to take ownership of the design, optimization, and management of PostgreSQL databases across on-premise and AWS cloud environments.

This role is ideal for a hands-on DBA with strong technical expertise in database performance tuning, replication, and cloud integration, who thrives in high-availability and mission-critical systems.

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring data reliability, scalability, and performance while collaborating with cross-functional development and DevOps teams to support continuous integration and deployment workflows.

Key Responsibilities :

- Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL databases across hybrid infrastructures (on-premises and AWS).

- Implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions using replication, clustering, and backup strategies.

- Perform database tuning, query optimization, and resource utilization analysis for enhanced system performance.

- Oversee backup and restore procedures, ensuring data consistency, security, and recoverability.

- Manage schema design, indexing, and storage optimization to support application scalability.

- Monitor system health, query performance, and resource metrics using pgAdmin, AWS CloudWatch, or equivalent tools.

- Administer user roles, access permissions, and implement database security policies in compliance with best practices.

- Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to automate deployment and integrate database operations within CI/CD pipelines.

- Conduct database upgrades and migrations with minimal downtime using AWS DMS or similar tools.

- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues proactively, ensuring maximum uptime and stability.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

- Minimum 4 years of experience as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator in production environments.

- Strong expertise in AWS Cloud Services, including RDS, EC2, S3, CloudWatch, and IAM.

- Proven hands-on experience in replication, clustering, and failover configuration.

- Deep understanding of Linux/Unix environments, including shell scripting for automation.

- Strong proficiency in performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.

- Experience with PostgreSQL administration tools such as pgAdmin, pgBouncer, and AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).

- Knowledge of backup and recovery mechanisms and database security configurations.

- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field.

Preferred Skills :

- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.

- Familiarity with containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes.

- Experience with monitoring and alerting tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.

- Knowledge of database version control and migration scripting.

- Experience supporting DevOps workflows and automated database provisioning
