Note: Candidates with an Engineering Degree in Computer Science and 8+ years of experience in Java, API development, distributed systems/microservices, GCP cloud, System Design, and preferably FinTech or banking domain expertise are highly desired.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer / Platform Engineer with deep expertise in distributed systems, Java, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will play a key role in redesigning and implementing backend services and APIs for an internal customer-agent platform currently running on a legacy tech stack. While the data layer remains unchanged, your work will directly impact system performance, scalability, and developer experience.

As a Platform Engineer, you will:

Design, build, and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs for distributed systems.

Develop backend services using Java (and/or Kotlin) with Spring Boot 3+.

Deploy and operate cloud-native workloads on GCP, including Cloud Run and GKE.

Implement secure authentication and authorization flows using OAuth 2.0.

Ensure observability, monitoring, and reliability of services using tools like New Relic or OpenTelemetry.

Work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams to own services end-to-end.

Key Responsibilities:

Modernize and rebuild internal backend systems while maintaining compatibility with the existing data layer.

Design and implement APIs that are fast, reliable, and developer-friendly.

Deploy and manage cloud-based services on GCP, ensuring high availability and scalability.

Apply best practices for secure API design, including OAuth 2.0 and other authentication mechanisms.

Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance and reliability.

Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations teams to define requirements and deliver solutions.

Required Qualifications:

B.Tech / M.Tech in Computer Science or related field.

8+ years of hands-on experience in Java backend development (Kotlin experience is a plus).

Expertise in Spring Boot 3+ and building backend services for distributed systems.

Strong experience designing REST and GraphQL APIs.

Solid knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL or Cloud Spanner.

Hands-on experience with GCP services including Cloud Run, GKE, and other cloud-native tools.

Practical understanding of OAuth 2.0, authentication/authorization flows, and secure API design.

Familiarity with observability, logging, and monitoring tools like New Relic, OpenTelemetry.

Ability to work independently and take ownership of services end-to-end.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in FinTech or banking domain.

Strong understanding of system design and distributed architecture.
