Platform Administrator/System Engineer

Role Overview :

Responsible for administering and supporting the Posit ecosystem (Workbench, Connect, Package Manager) in a Linux environment, enabling secure, scalable data science workflows using R and Python.

This role ensures smooth deployment of applications, package management, and integration with enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities :

Platform Administration :

- Install, configure, and maintain Posit Workbench, Connect, and Package Manager on Linux servers.

- Manage user access, permissions, and Active Directory integration.

- Monitor system health, resource utilization, and troubleshoot performance issues.

Package Management :

- Configure and maintain repositories for R (CRAN) and Python (PyPI) packages using Posit Package Manager.

- Validate and curate packages for compliance and reproducibility.

Python & R Integration :

- Enable deployment of Python and R applications (Shiny, Dash, Streamlit) on Posit Connect.

- Support virtual environments and version control for Python and R projects.

Security & Compliance :

- Apply enterprise security standards for Linux systems and Posit services.

- Ensure compliance with GxP guidelines, GDP principles, and SDLC processes for validated environments.

- Maintain documentation and audit trails for system changes and deployments.

Collaboration :

- Work closely with data scientists and developers to support project deployments.

- Provide guidance on best practices for package installation and environment setup.

Required Skills :

Technical Expertise :

- Strong knowledge of Linux administration (RHEL, Ubuntu).

- Proficiency in Python and R programming.

- Experience with Posit tools : Workbench, Connect, Package Manager.

- Familiarity with Git and CI/CD workflows.

- Working knowledge of GxP, GDP, and SDLC principles in a regulated environment.

Package Management :

- Understanding of CRAN, and PyPI repositories.

- Ability to manage curated package sets and offline environments.

Deployment & Integration :

- Experience deploying interactive apps (Shiny, Dash, Streamlit) and reports.

- Knowledge of Kubernetes or containerized environments (for off-host execution).

System Administration :

- User and group management via Active Directory or LDAP.

- Resource allocation and monitoring (CPU, memory limits).

Soft Skills :

- Strong communication and documentation skills.

- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
