Description :
Job Overview :
We are seeking a skilled Physical Design Engineer with strong hands-on experience in ASIC/SoC backend implementation.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for executing the complete RTL-to-GDSII flow, working closely with cross-functional teams to achieve timing, power, and area goals for complex designs targeted for successful tape-out.
Key Responsibilities :
- Execute end-to-end physical design implementation from RTL to GDSII for complex ASIC/SoC designs
- Perform floorplanning, power planning, placement, CTS, routing, and post-route optimization
- Drive timing closure using STA methodologies including multi-corner, multi-mode (MCMM) analysis
- Analyse and resolve congestion, IR drop, electromigration (EM), and signal integrity issues
- Perform and support DRC, LVS, and ERC checks; work with CAD teams on ECO implementation and fixes
- Collaborate closely with RTL, synthesis, verification, DFT, and backend teams to ensure smooth integration and tape-out
- Optimize designs for performance, power, and area (PPA) based on project requirements
- Develop, maintain, and debug SDC constraints and automation scripts for physical design flows
- Support DFT insertion, validation, and timing sign-off
- Prepare technical documentation and actively participate in design and sign-off reviews
Required Qualifications & Skills :
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in ASIC/SoC Physical Design
- Strong understanding of RTL-to-GDSII physical design flows
- Proficiency with industry-standard EDA tools such as Synopsys (ICC2, PrimeTime), Cadence (Innovus, Tempus), Mentor (Hercules) or equivalent
- Solid experience in STA, timing closure techniques, clocking strategies, and congestion analysis
- Working knowledge of power analysis, CTS, ECO flows, and routing optimization
- Good scripting skills in Tcl, Perl, Python, or Shell
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
