We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Perl Programming Specialist to join our team in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. This role is ideal for a seasoned developer with 6.5 to 9 years of experience who thrives on technical challenges, reverse engineering, and optimizing critical systems. You'll play a vital role in understanding, maintaining, and evolving our core Perl-based applications.

Key Responsibilities :

As a Perl Programming Specialist, your main responsibilities will include :

- Script Analysis & Reverse Engineering : Independently analyze existing Perl scripts, including their child scripts, to thoroughly understand their purpose, functionality, and trigger points. This will involve significant reverse engineering to grasp the deep-rooted logic and dependencies.

- Perl Development & Enhancement : Leverage your deep Perl development experience to maintain, enhance, and debug existing scripts. This includes the ability to effectively incorporate new libraries into programs and invoke APIs in Perl programming.

- Unix/Shell Scripting & PL/SQL : Utilize your hands-on experience in Unix/Shell scripting and PL/SQL to support and develop robust data processing solutions.

- Troubleshooting & Communication : Analyze, understand, and troubleshoot complex technical issues. Effectively communicate functional details to end-users and perform SQL performance optimization to ensure efficient data operations.

- Project Execution : Drive the successful completion of assigned JIRA tasks, including developing code to meet requirements, thoroughly unit testing changes, and supporting code deployment processes.

- Collaboration & Migration : Work effectively both independently and as a team player. Be open to working on projects involving the migration of legacy systems.

Must-Have Skills :

- Perl Programming : Extensive hands-on experience and deep expertise in Perl development.

- Shell Scripting : Strong proficiency in Unix/Shell scripting.

- PL/SQL : Solid experience with PL/SQL for database interactions.

- Reverse Engineering : Proven ability to analyze and reverse engineer existing codebases.

- API Integrations : Experience with invoking APIs within Perl programs.

- Troubleshooting : Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex technical issues.

- SQL Performance Optimization : Ability to optimize SQL queries for enhanced performance.

Preferred Skills :

- Discoverer : Knowledge or experience with Oracle Discoverer.

- APEX : Familiarity or experience with Oracle APEX.

- SFTP Process : Understanding and experience with SFTP processes.
