PAS Support Engineer (Unix & Production Support)

Role Overview :

The PAS Support Engineer is a critical operations role requiring 5+ Years of experience with a strong, mandatory focus on Unix administration and troubleshooting skills.

Located in Bangalore, the incumbent will be primarily responsible for providing support in production environments, encompassing deployments, incident resolution, and system monitoring of Platform Application Services (PAS).

This role requires effective coordination with development, quality assurance, and infrastructure teams to ensure high system availability.

Job Summary :

We are seeking an experienced PAS Support Engineer (5+ years) with strong expertise in Unix administration and production troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will be comfortable performing deployments and ensuring robust incident resolution within a high-stakes environment.


Key responsibilities include coordinating with development and infrastructure teams, performing system monitoring, and utilizing a basic understanding of WebLogic Server and Azure DevOps pipelines to maintain and support critical application platforms. Knowledge of ETL/IBM DataStage is a good-to-have advantage.

Key Responsibilities and Technical Deliverables :

Production Support and Incident Management :

- Provide expert production support and perform incident resolution for critical Platform Application Services (PAS), adhering to strict SLAs.

- Utilize strong Unix administration and troubleshooting skills (including scripting, command-line utilities, and log analysis) to diagnose and resolve complex system issues efficiently.

- Perform proactive system monitoring using standard tools to detect anomalies, performance degradation, and potential failures before they impact end-users.

Deployment and Infrastructure Coordination :

- Execute application deployments and configuration changes in production and pre-production environments, ensuring high quality and zero downtime where possible.

- Demonstrate a Basic understanding of Azure DevOps pipelines to support CI/CD activities, including triggering deployments and analyzing pipeline logs.

- Coordinate with development and infrastructure teams on system upgrades, capacity planning, and environment provisioning/maintenance.

- Apply a Basic understanding of WebLogic Server administration (e.g., domain configuration, JVM tuning, monitoring consoles) for application server maintenance.

Process and Documentation :

- Maintain clear, concise, and up-to-date documentation for support procedures, runbooks, and incident reports.

- Participate in on-call rotation schedules and post-incident reviews to drive continuous service improvement.

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications :

- Experience : 5+ Years of relevant experience.

- Core Skills : Strong Unix administration and troubleshooting skills.

- Environment : Experience working in production support environments, performing deployments, and incident resolution.

- Middleware/DevOps : Basic understanding of WebLogic Server and Azure DevOps pipelines.

Soft Skills : Ability to coordinate with development and infrastructure teams.

Good to Have (Not Mandatory) :

- Knowledge of ETL / IBM DataStage architecture and job monitoring/troubleshooting.

- Experience with cloud monitoring tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, Splunk).

- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python) for automation.
