Position Summary :
We are seeking a skilled Snowflake Data Warehouse Test Engineer to support quality assurance activities for enterprise-scale cloud data platforms. This role focuses on validating data integrity, transformations, security, and performance within Snowflake environments, as well as testing Azure-based data pipelines, DevOps deployments, and automation components. The ideal candidate has strong experience in data testing, SQL-based validation, Snowflake, Azure cloud services, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scenarios for Snowflake data warehouse solutions.
- Validate data ingestion, transformation, and aggregation logic across Snowflake schemas and tables, including Azure Data Factory (ADF), Logic Apps, and ADLS-based ingestion.
- Write and execute complex SQL queries to perform source-to-target data reconciliation and integrity checks.
- Test ETL/ELT pipelines feeding Snowflake, including ADF pipelines, Logic Apps, and Azure-based orchestration.
- Validate Azure DevOps pipelines, including deployment of Snowflake objects, ETL jobs, and configuration changes.
- Validate role-based access control, data masking, and security configurations within Snowflake and Azure (Key Vault, RBAC).
- Perform regression testing for schema changes, data model updates, and performance optimizations, including Snowflake warehouse sizing and cost-efficient execution validation.
- Write Python scripts for data validation automation, API calls, and Snowflake connector usage.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, BI Developers, and Product Owners to clarify requirements and expected results.
- Identify, document, and track defects with clear reproduction steps and supporting evidence.
- Support UAT and production validation efforts, including post-deployment data verification.
- Contribute to QA metrics, test coverage reporting, and continuous improvement of data testing practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications -
- Hands-on experience testing Snowflake data warehouse solutions.
- Strong SQL skills, including complex joins, aggregations, and window functions.
- Experience with data validation, reconciliation, and data quality testing techniques.
- Understanding of Snowflake concepts such as virtual warehouses, schemas, stages, roles, RBAC, and time travel.
- Experience testing ETL/ELT pipelines and data transformations, especially within Azure Data Factory (ADF).
- Strong working knowledge of Azure cloud services, including:
a. Azure Data Factory
b. Azure Logic Apps
c. Azure Key Vault
d. Azure Storage / ADLS
e. Azure DevOps (pipelines, repos, releases)
- Ability to validate Azure DevOps pipelines, including deployment of Snowflake objects and ETL job releases.
- Ability to write Python scripts for data validation automation, API calls, and Snowflake connector usage.
- Experience validating Snowflake query performance, warehouse sizing, and cost efficient execution.
- Experience using defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, JIRA).
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience with Snowflake performance testing and query optimization validation.
- Exposure to data governance, auditing, or regulatory compliance testing.
- Experience with automation frameworks for data testing (e.g., Python, Great Expectations, pytest).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines supporting data platforms (Azure DevOps preferred).
- Background in financial services, taxation, lending, or regulated data environments.
Education : Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
