The Cloud Operations Manager overall responsibility is to oversees the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of Orients Cloud Infrastructure. The Cloud Operations Manager would lead teams to ensure system reliability, cost-efficiency, and security across platforms like AWS and Azure.
Core Responsibilities of Cloud Operations Manager (Project Manager) :
- Financial Operations (FinOps) : Monitor cloud usage and implement cost-optimization strategies, such as managing reserved instances and rightsizing resources, to control budgets.
- Incident & Problem Management : Lead incident response efforts, conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for production issues, and ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Security & Compliance : Enforce cloud security policies, manage access controls, and ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., ISO27001, PCI-DSS).
- Team Leadership : Mentor and manage a team of cloud engineers, SREs, and DevOps professionals.
- Automation & DevOps : Drive the adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like
Terraform or Ansible and streamline CI/CD pipelines to improve operational efficiency.
- Disaster Recovery : Develop and test business continuity and disaster recovery (DR) plans to ensure data integrity and minimal downtime.
Key Skills and Qualifications of Cloud Operations Manager (Project Manager) :
- Technical Proficiency : Expertise in major cloud platforms (such as AWS and Azure) and
familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Scripting & Automation : Proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automating repetitive tasks.
- ITIL & Governance : Strong understanding of ITIL concepts for service management and governance models, including Incident, Change and Problem Management.
- Experience : 10+ years in IT Infrastructure operations / Cloud Operations, with at least 3 years of experience in Cloud Operations Management.
- Core Competencies : Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Soft Skills1 : Superior written and verbal communication, leadership, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities.
- Soft Skills2 : Team Management, Performance Management, Operations Management, Customer Lifecycle Management.
- Soft Skills2 : Customer Centricity, Customer Governance, SLA Management, SOW ownership, end to end Delivery Ownership.
- Tools : Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Jira, Asana, Microsoft Project) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Education : Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or Masters degree in IT / Cloud.
- Process Certifications : One of the certifications Project Management Professional (PMP,) PRINCE2, Six Sigma Green Belt or Six Sigma Black Belt certification is mandatory.
- Technical Certifications : Professional-level certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect and/or Microsoft Certified : Azure Administrator.
