About the Role :
Oracle Health is building scalable, secure, and resilient platforms that power next- generation healthcare applications. As a Principal Member of Technical Staff, you will be a senior individual contributor responsible for designing and delivering critical distributed services, guiding technical direction, and mentoring engineering teams to build highly available and performant systems used by healthcare providers globally.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design, architect, and implement large-scale, distributed systems and microservices using Java and related technologies.
- Own end- to- end delivery of complex features from technical design, development, testing, deployment, to production support.
- Lead technical design reviews, drive architectural decisions, and ensure adherence to best practices in scalability, reliability, performance, and security.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and cross- functional teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Improve system observability through metrics, logging, tracing, and automated alerts; lead incident analysis and root cause investigations.
- Champion engineering excellence : code quality, CI/CD, automated testing, and deployment pipelines.
- Mentor and guide junior and mid- level engineers, providing technical leadership and fostering a culture of learning and ownership.
- Evaluate and adopt modern technologies, frameworks, and tools to continuously evolve the platform.
- Contribute to technical roadmaps, standards, and best practices for distributed systems within Oracle Health.
Required Qualifications :
- 7+ years of hands- on software development experience, primarily with Java in backend or platform engineering roles.
- Strong experience in designing and building distributed systems, microservices, and event- driven architectures.
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and object- oriented design.
- Experience with RESTful APIs, messaging/streaming systems (e.g., Kafka, JMS), and asynchronous processing.
- Practical experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including data modeling and performance tuning.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Oracle Cloud, AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong focus on reliability and performance : scaling services, capacity planning, caching strategies, and fault- tolerance patterns.
- Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, build tools, and automated testing frameworks.
- Excellent problem- solving skills, with the ability to decompose complex problems and drive them to resolution.
- Strong communication skills and proven ability to work effectively in cross- functional, globally distributed teams.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience building large- scale, mission- critical systems with strict SLAs (latency, uptime, data integrity).
- Knowledge of distributed system concepts such as consensus, partitioning, replication, and consistency models.
- Experience in healthcare, health tech, or other highly regulated domains (nice to have).
- Familiarity with security, privacy, and compliance best practices in cloud- based systems.
- Experience influencing architecture and technical direction beyond your immediate team.
What We Offer :
- Opportunity to shape the technical foundation of Oracle Health's cloud- native platforms.
- Work on complex engineering problems that directly impact patient care and healthcare outcomes.
- A collaborative environment with strong technical peers and opportunities for growth and impact.
