Job Title : OpenShift Engineer
Location : Chennai Onsite - Hybrid
Notice Period : Joining within 15 Days only
Job Summary :
We are seeking a specialized OpenShift Engineer with a minimum of 6+ years of IT experience and 3+ years of dedicated focus on OpenShift and Kubernetes. In this role, you will be responsible for the architecture, build, and administration of OpenShift Container Platform clusters at our Edge locations.
A key focus of this position is OpenShift Virtualization (OSV). You will leverage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) to automate cluster provisioning, manage capacity, and ensure high availability for both containerized applications and virtual machines.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Cluster Engineering & Virtualization (Edge Focus) :
- Build & Deploy : Design, build, and configure OpenShift Virtualization (OSV) clusters at on-premise Edge locations.
- Infrastructure Management : Manage the underlying infrastructure, including Network and Storage configurations required to set up robust clusters.
- Capacity Planning : Manage cluster capacity, tenant provisioning, and resource isolation to ensure optimal performance for distributed workloads.
2. Infrastructure Automation (IaC) :
- Automation Development : Develop and maintain robust automation scripts to build and manage platform capacity using Ansible, Terraform, and Bash/Python.
- CI/CD Integration : Design and implement Tekton pipelines for continuous integration and delivery, automating the lifecycle of the container platform.
- Scripting : Write clean, maintainable code (YAML, Python, Node.js) to support system administration tasks and operational tooling.
3. Operations, Observability & Support :
- Lifecycle Management : Manage the full lifecycle of the platform, including installation, upgrades, hotfixes, and patching of OpenShift clusters.
- Observability : Implement and manage monitoring solutions using Dynatrace, Grafana, and Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management (RHACM) to ensure system health.
- L2 Support : Provide Level 2 engineering support, conducting root cause analysis (RCA) for complex issues and performing unit testing on infrastructure code.
- Documentation : Author and maintain system documentation, runbooks, and playbooks to support the broader engineering team.
Required Skills & Technical Expertise :
- Core Platform : Deep expertise in Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP), OpenShift Virtualization (OSV), and Kubernetes.
- Container Technology : Strong working knowledge of Docker and container runtimes.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) : Mandatory hands-on experience developing automation using Ansible and Terraform.
- Scripting : Proficiency in at least one scripting language: Python, Bash, Node.js, or PowerShell.
- CI/CD : Proven experience creating and managing pipelines using Tekton.
- Observability : Experience with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Grafana, and RHACM.
- Infrastructure Fundamentals : Strong understanding of Network and Storage configuration in the context of cluster setup.
Experience Requirements :
- Total Experience : 6+ years of overall IT experience.
- Relevant Experience : Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience specifically in building, administering, and managing OpenShift container and virtualization platforms.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have) :
- Experience with NetApp Controllers and storage integration.
- Background in VMware ESX administration.
- Knowledge of Linux Cluster management.
- Experience with Splunk for log analysis.
Education :
- Required : Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
