Role Overview :

As an Openshift Otel Operator Developer, you will be at the forefront of building and maintaining cutting-edge observability solutions for our cloud-native applications.

You will collaborate closely with DevOps engineers, SREs, and application development teams to design, develop, and deploy Operators that automate the deployment and management of OpenTelemetry components on Openshift.

Your work will directly impact the reliability, performance, and scalability of our systems, enabling faster incident resolution and improved user experiences.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design and develop Kubernetes Operators using the Operator SDK or similar frameworks to automate the deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management of OpenTelemetry components on Openshift.

- Integrate OpenTelemetry with Kafka for robust data streaming and message queuing, ensuring reliable transport of telemetry data.

- Configure and manage Splunk integrations for effective log aggregation, analysis, and visualization, providing actionable insights into system behavior.

- Collaborate with application development teams to instrument applications with OpenTelemetry SDKs and APIs, ensuring comprehensive telemetry data collection.

- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, user guides, and troubleshooting procedures, to facilitate knowledge sharing and adoption.

- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to OpenTelemetry deployments, Kafka integrations, and Splunk configurations, ensuring system stability and performance.

- Contribute to the development of best practices and standards for observability, promoting consistent and effective telemetry practices across the organization.

Required Skillset:

- Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and deploy Kubernetes Operators using the Operator SDK or similar frameworks.

- Proven expertise in working with Openshift and Kubernetes environments, including experience with deployments, services, and networking.

- Strong understanding of OpenTelemetry concepts and experience with instrumenting applications using OpenTelemetry SDKs and APIs.

- Hands-on experience with Kafka for data streaming and message queuing, including configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

- Proficiency in configuring and managing Splunk integrations for log aggregation, analysis, and visualization.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment, adapting to changing priorities and requirements.

- 6 - 12 years of relevant experience.
