Role : OLS (Optical Line Side) Software Test Engineer

Location : Bangalore / Hybrid

About the Role :

We are looking for an experienced OLS Software Test Engineer to validate and ensure the quality of next-generation Optical Line System (OLS) software solutions. The role involves functional, regression, integration, and performance testing of optical networking software in a lab-driven telecom environment.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in optical networking technologies, telecom software testing, and test automation.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design and execute test plans, test cases, and regression suites for OLS software features

- Perform functional, integration, regression, and performance testing

- Develop and maintain automated test frameworks using Python or Robot Framework

- Collaborate with developers and architects to understand feature requirements and validate implementations

- Set up and manage optical lab environments for hardware-in-the-loop testing

- Validate optical performance, alarms, fault management, and network behavior

- Perform defect tracking, root cause analysis, and verification of fixes

- Contribute to CI/CD-based automated testing pipelines

- Participate in Agile sprint planning, estimation, and test execution activities

Mandatory Skills :

- Strong knowledge of Optical Networking technologies such as DWDM, ROADM, Amplifiers, Raman, OTDR, and DGE

- Hands-on experience in optical or telecom software testing

- Test automation experience using Python and/or Robot Framework

- Experience with NETCONF/YANG, SNMP, or CLI-based testing

- Hands-on experience with optical lab equipment such as OTDR, BERT testers, VOAs, or Optical Spectrum Analyzers

- Experience with Jenkins/GitLab CI and defect tracking tools like JIRA

Good to Have :

- Nokia OLS or telecom product testing experience

- Familiarity with telecom standards such as ITU-T or Telcordia GR

- Understanding of C++ for unit-level collaboration

- ISTQB certification

- Exposure to AI/ML-based testing approaches

Preferred Background :

- Candidates from telecom product companies working on optical transport, DWDM, ROADM, or OLS systems will be highly preferred.
