About the job :

The Sr. Data Scientist will lead the development and deployment of generative AI (GenAI) models in the healthcare EMR/EHR domain.


This role will focus on building state-of-the-art AI/ML solutions for a variety of use cases and integrating agentic frameworks and workflows.


The incumbent will have expertise in working with models such as OpenAI's GPT, Gemini, Claude, and open-source frameworks like LLaMA, as well as a proven track record of deploying scalable AI systems in regulated and complex healthcare environments.

AI and GenAI Model Development :

- Lead data science projects and deliver innovative technical solutions to solve problems and improve business outcomes.

- Develop and fine-tune generative AI models for healthcare-specific tasks and use cases.

- Leverage and adapt models such as OpenAI GPT, Gemini, Claude, and open-source tools like LLaMA to meet healthcare-specific needs.

- Design, develop, test, validate, and deploy Machine Learning/Statistical models to build new products.

Agentic Frameworks and Workflows :

- Design and implement agentic AI systems to automate workflows and enhance user interactions within EMR/EHR platforms.


- Integrate generative AI into agentic frameworks to create intelligent, autonomous solutions that improve efficiency in healthcare processes.

AI System Deployment at Scale :

- Deploy AI solutions in complex healthcare environments, ensuring scalability, reliability, and seamless integration with EMR/EHR systems.

- Align AI systems with interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR, and healthcare data formats.

Unstructured Data Processing :


- Process and analyze unstructured healthcare data, including clinical notes, audio transcriptions, and diagnostic imaging, to build models that address specific clinical needs.

Regulatory Compliance and Security :

- Ensure all AI models and workflows comply with healthcare data privacy regulations, including HIPAA and similar standards.

- Build secure AI systems that maintain the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive patient data.

Cross-Functional Collaboration :

- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, clinicians, and other stakeholders to translate clinical needs into AI-driven solutions.

- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders to drive alignment and innovation.

Research and Innovation :

- Stay updated on the latest advancements in generative AI and apply them to improve existing healthcare processes.

- Experiment with open-source and commercial GenAI models to explore their applicability in healthcare use cases.

- Perform other duties that support the overall objective of the position.

Education Required : Bachelor's degree.

- Preferred: Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Informatics, Electrical/Mechanical/Biomedical Engineering, or related fields.

- Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.

Experience Required :

- Extensive experience in developing and deploying AI/ML models, with a strong focus on generative AI techniques (e.g., GPT, LLaMA, Claude).

- Experience with GenAI platforms like OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, and open-source tools such as LLaMA.

Preferred :

- 8+ years of experience in AI/ML development with a focus on healthcare applications.

- Demonstrated success in deploying scalable AI solutions in regulated environments.

- Experience working with multiple GenAI models, including open-source and proprietary systems, and adapting them for industry-specific use cases.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

Healthcare Domain Knowledge :


- Deep understanding of EMR/EHR systems, healthcare workflows, and interoperability standards such as HL7 and FHIR.


- Familiarity with clinical terminologies and taxonomies like ICD, CPT, and SNOMED.


- Proficiency in Python and AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Hugging Face.


- Knowledge of MLOps practices, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and deployment of AI systems in production environments.


- Strong understanding of healthcare privacy regulations, including HIPAA, and experience building systems that ensure compliance.


- Skill in : Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Ability to : Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams.
