Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Database Developer/Architect with deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and hands-on experience with PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimising database solutions, as well as leading migration and integration efforts across heterogeneous environments.


Key Responsibilities :


- Design and architect scalable, secure, and high-performance database solutions using MSSQL and PostgreSQL.


- Lead database development efforts, including stored procedures, triggers, views, and performance tuning.

- Drive migration projects from Microsoft SQL Server to PostgreSQL or vice versa, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime.

- Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to align database architecture with business requirements.


- Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.

- Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers on best practices.


Required Skills & Experience :


- Strong proficiency in MSSQL development and architecture (T-SQL, indexing, query optimisation).

- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including PL/pgSQL, performance tuning, and extensions.

- Proven track record in database migration projects between MSSQL and PostgreSQL.

- Experience with ETL processes, data modelling, and schema design.

- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and deploying databases in cloud-native environments.

- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Shell, or PowerShell for automation.

- Exposure to DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines for database deployment.

- Strong understanding of security, compliance, and data governance principles.


Preferred Qualifications :


- Certifications in MSSQL, PostgreSQL, or cloud platforms.

- Experience with containerised database deployments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
