Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Power BI Consultant with strong Alteryx expertise to support and enhance the Finance analytics and reporting ecosystem. This role will act as a data and visualisation subject-matter expert, responsible for designing robust financial data models, automating reporting workflows, ensuring data quality, and enabling data-driven decision-making across Finance.

The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience in Power BI, SQL, Alteryx, and financial data, with the ability to work closely with Finance, Data, and Technology teams in a consultative capacity.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design and develop financial data models that accurately represent business structures, hierarchies, and relationships.

- Ensure data models align with financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting requirements.

- Collaborate with Data Modelling, Business Analysis, and Technology teams to integrate financial data architecture into existing systems.

- Build and maintain a scalable financial data estate to support future analytics and reporting needs.

- Integrate financial data from multiple sources including ERP systems, EDW, RDS, Datasphere, Redshift, external APIs, and spreadsheets.

- Design and implement data ingestion, extraction, and transformation pipelines, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and auditability.

- Implement data cleansing, validation, and reconciliation routines aligned with financial reporting standards.

- Evaluate and support the implementation of AI-enabled data integration and automation use cases where applicable.

- Define, implement, and monitor data quality standards, validation checks, and feedback mechanisms.

- Ensure ownership of data ingestion processes including QA, scheduling, lineage, veracity, and interoperability.

- Maintain comprehensive documentation of data models, pipelines, and reporting logic for stakeholder clarity and audit readiness.

- Design, deliver, and support a Power BI-based financial reporting and visualisation estate.

- Automate monthly financial exploration and reporting processes with accurate cross-channel distribution.

- Own regular refresh, optimisation, and enhancement of dashboards and reports.

- Develop and maintain DAX measures and calculations to support advanced financial analytics.

- Actively participate in Power BI peer reviews, ensuring reports meet defined gold standards.

- Champion best practices in data visualisation, usability, and performance.

- Leverage Alteryx to automate data preparation, transformation, and reporting workflows.

- Use Power Automate to streamline report delivery, approvals, and operational processes.

- Identify opportunities to improve reporting timeliness, efficiency, and reliability through automation.

- Act as a trusted data and visualisation consultant for Finance stakeholders.

- Support scoping and estimation for data sourcing and reporting initiatives.

- Partner with Finance, Product, and Tech teams to understand financial data lineage and usage.

- Identify and operationalise opportunities for data-driven decision-making across Finance.

- Lead reporting and visualisation workstreams within broader system and transformation projects.

- Manage and update JIRA tickets, ensuring transparency of progress and dependencies.

- Proactively identify opportunities to phase and accelerate delivery of reporting initiatives.

- Conduct post-delivery retrospectives to improve ways of working, documentation, and collaboration.

- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing sessions and SOP documentation.

Required Skills & Experience :

Experience :

- 69 years of experience in BI, data analytics, or data visualisation roles.

- Strong experience supporting financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting use cases.

- Proven experience designing, delivering, and supporting an enterprise Power BI reporting estate.

Technical Skills :

- Advanced expertise in Power BI, including:

- DAX

- Data modelling

- Performance optimisation

- Strong hands-on experience with SQL and data querying across relational data sources.

- Solid experience using Alteryx for data preparation, automation, and workflow optimisation.

- Working knowledge of Power Automate for process and reporting automation.

- Understanding of cloud and data platforms such as AWS (basic), Redshift, EDW, Datasphere, RDS.

- Strong understanding of data integration, transformation, and data quality principles.
