AS400 Support Engineer (Core Banking & Production Support)

Role Overview :

The AS400 Support Engineer is a crucial technical role requiring 4- 6 Years of experience focused on providing 24 by 7 Production support and enhancement for a Core Banking Application.

The incumbent must possess mandatory expertise in AS400_OS, DB2/400, and AS400_CLP (Control Language Programming).

This position is available across multiple locations : Pune, Mumbai, Indore, Chennai, Kolkata, and Bangalore.

Job Summary :

We are seeking an experienced AS400 Support Engineer (4- 6 years experience) with strong expertise in COBOL, AS400, CL, and DB2/400 Development within the domain of Retail Core Banking. The role's primary function is to provide continuous 24/7 Production Support, including incident resolution, application enhancement, and maintenance. Key responsibilities include demonstrating proficiency in the Agile Way of Working for enhancements, performing advanced Incident Management, and effectively managing customer communication while ensuring high system stability and performance.

Key Responsibilities and Technical Deliverables :

Production Support and Incident Management :

- Provide comprehensive 24 by 7 Production support for the Core Banking Application, ensuring high availability and swift resolution of critical incidents.

- Execute advanced Incident Management procedures, accurately diagnosing root causes within the AS/400 environment (OS, DB2, application code) and implementing permanent fixes.

- Perform application enhancement tasks and routine maintenance activities on the Core Banking platform.

AS/400 Technical Development and Maintenance :

- Demonstrate Strong experience in COBOL, AS400, CL (Control Language Programming), and DB2/400 Development for both new feature implementation and complex bug fixes.

- Apply mandatory skills in AS400_OS and DB2 for efficient database querying (SOQL/SOSL equivalent in DB2/400), performance tuning, and system administration tasks.

- Maintain and optimize batch jobs using CL/400 to ensure daily and end-of-day processes complete successfully and within SLA.

Domain and Process Adherence :

- Apply practical Understanding and working on Retail Core banking projects, recognizing the critical financial and regulatory impact of application failures.

- Work effectively within an Agile Way of Working, participating in sprints, providing estimates, and collaborating on feature delivery.

- Utilize Excellent communication skills and ability to manage customer and stakeholder expectations during critical incidents and enhancement cycles.

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications :

- Experience : 4- 6 Years in AS/400 development and support.

- Core Technology : Strong expertise in COBOL/400, AS400, CL/400, and DB2/400.

- Support Process : Mandatory experience in providing 24 by 7 Production support and executing Incident Management.

- Domain : Understanding and working on Retail Core banking project.

- Methodology : Familiarity with the Agile Way of Working.

Preferred Skills :

- Experience with change management and version control systems specific to the AS/400 environment.

- Knowledge of journaling and data replication techniques in DB2/400.

- Experience integrating AS/400 applications with modern systems via middleware.
