A Day in the Life of Senior DevOps Engineer

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will own and evolve our GitLab ecosystem and CI/CD platform. You will collaborate closely with development, QA, security, and operations teams to build highly automated, secure, and observable deployment pipelines. Your role will directly impact developer productivity, release velocity, and platform reliability.

So, how are we going to keep you busy?

- Administer and govern GitLab repositories, including access controls, branch protections, and permissions.

- Design and implement enterprise-grade multi-stage GitLab CI/CD pipelines.

- Configure and manage GitLab Runners ensuring scalability and high availability.

- Standardize release management and artifact lifecycle (Generic, Docker, Maven, Helm).

- Migrate and optimize legacy Jenkins pipelines where required.

- Embed DevSecOps practices by integrating SAST, DAST, and dependency scanning into pipelines.

- Automate infrastructure provisioning across OpenShift and Kubernetes using Infrastructure as Code.

- Build and optimize Dockerfiles; manage container images using Docker and Podman.

- Implement monitoring and observability solutions using Prometheus and Grafana.

- Support Java development teams in resolving Maven, JAR, and POM build issues.

- Perform advanced troubleshooting including CI/CD failures, container runtime issues, and network diagnostics.

- Drive automation initiatives using Python and Bash scripting.

What will make you eligible for this role?

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.

- 6+ years of professional experience in DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud-native environments.

- Strong experience administering GitLab CI/CD and managing runners.

- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (OpenShift, EKS, AKS, K3s).

- Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting.

- Experience with container technologies (Docker, Podman) and container registries.

What will make you the best-fit for this role?

- Deep expertise in designing scalable and secure CI/CD architectures.

- Strong understanding of DevSecOps practices and pipeline security integration.

- Experience supporting Java build ecosystems (Maven) and microservices deployments.

- Experience implementing monitoring stacks using Prometheus and Grafana.

- Hands-on experience in AWS, Azure, or OpenShift cloud platforms.

- Ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems and performance issues.

- Strong collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional teams.

Experience, that will be an advantage :

- Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, Red Hat OpenShift).

- Experience with Terraform, Helm, or other Infrastructure as Code tools.

- Telecom domain experience.

- Experience managing high-availability and large-scale distributed systems.
