Role Overview :


We are looking for a Senior / Lead Data Scientist to drive high impact analytics and machine learning solutions across multiple retail-focused workstreams. This role involves solving complex, real world business problems using large scale transactional data, advanced modeling techniques, and close collaboration with business stakeholders.


Depending on the assigned workstream, the role will focus on areas such as forecasting demand, optimizing prices and promotions, automating intelligent offers, or measuring marketing effectiveness. The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth with a pragmatic, business first mindset and experience delivering production ready analytical solutions.

Core Responsibilities (Common Across All Workstreams) :

- Partner with business and analytics stakeholders to understand problem statements, objectives, and constraints

- Translate business problems into well defined analytical, ML, or measurement frameworks

- Perform deep exploratory data analysis (EDA) on large transactional and behavioral datasets

- Design, develop, validate, and deploy scalable models and data pipelines

- Build robust, production ready solutions using Python and PySpark

- Monitor model performance, analyze errors, and continuously improve solutions

- Communicate insights and model outputs clearly to technical and non technical stakeholders

- Contribute to best practices around model development, QA, automation, and deployment

Workstream /Specific Project Focus :

1) Demand Forecasting :

- Build and maintain SKU and store level demand forecasting models

- Incorporate seasonality, promotions, pricing changes, and external demand drivers

- Develop short term and long term forecasting frameworks across categories

- Evaluate forecast accuracy using metrics such as MAPE, WAPE, RMSE

- Support inventory planning, replenishment, assortment changes, and new product launches

2. Price Optimization / Personalized Pricing :

- Develop personalized and segment level pricing frameworks

- Model price sensitivity and demand elasticity at customer item or category levels

- Design dynamic pricing models considering promotions, competition, inventory, and macro signals

- Balance revenue growth, customer retention, and margin optimization

- Support experimentation (A/B testing, holdouts) to measure pricing impact

3. Intelligent Offer Management (IOM) :

- Build ML driven frameworks to automate offer creation, optimization, and execution

- Develop personalization and recommendation models for DTC, eFlyers, and customer journeys

- Reduce manual effort and improve consistency and speed of promotional execution

- Design scalable data pipelines for stitching data from multiple systems

- Enable business users with analytics backed dashboards and monitoring solutions

4. Marketing Measurement (MMM / MTA) :

- Build marketing measurement frameworks such as MMM and/or multi touch attribution

- Quantify the impact of marketing channels, campaigns, and promotions on business outcomes

- Design causal and statistical models to estimate incremental lift and ROI

- Support budget optimization and scenario planning for marketing investments

- Translate complex measurement outputs into actionable business recommendations

Required Skills :

Technical :

- Strong programming skills in Python

- Experience with PySpark or large scale data processing frameworks

- Strong EDA, statistical analysis, and data visualization skills

- Experience with ML techniques such as regression, tree based models, time series, or personalization models

Analytical & Business :

- Ability to break down ambiguous business problems into analytical solutions

- Strong understanding of retail / transactional data

- Experience working with large, complex datasets

- Strong stakeholder communication and structured problem solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications :

- 6 to 8+ years of experience in retail, e commerce, pricing, supply chain, or marketing analytics

- Experience in one or more of the listed workstreams (Demand Forecasting, Pricing, IOM, MMM)

- Exposure to experimentation, causal inference, or impact measurement

- Experience building production grade analytical systems
