Job Title : US Transport Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Location : India (collaborating on US standards)

Experience : 8 to 15 years

Role Overview :

The US Transport SME will provide domain expertise in U.S. transportation systems and standards to guide product development, modernization, and compliance efforts.

This role ensures that Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) solutions align with U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) standards and industry best practices.

The SME will collaborate with engineering teams to validate designs, support feature development, and contribute to strategic modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities :

- Act as the primary authority on U.S. traffic systems, ITS standards, and regulatory compliance (MUTCD, NEMA, FHWA).

- Guide product features and validate designs against DOT and industry standards.

- Provide expertise on ATMS, traffic simulation tools, and SPaT/MAP message structures.

- Support modernization efforts for adaptive signal control, traffic controllers, and performance analytics.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure standards compliance in feature development and R&D initiatives.

- Advise on integration of connected vehicle (V2X) technologies and emerging ITS protocols.

- Participate in roadmap planning and contribute to strategic decisions for ITS platform development.

Required Skills :

- Deep knowledge of U.S. transportation domain and ITS standards (MUTCD, NEMA, FHWA).

- Experience with ATMS, traffic simulation tools, and SPaT/MAP message formats.

- Strong understanding of traffic data analysis and performance measures.

- Familiarity with standards-based protocols (NTCIP, TMDD).

- Ability to work with engineering teams on compliance and feature validation.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Prior consulting or field experience in U.S. transportation projects.

- Exposure to adaptive signal control and connected vehicle technologies.

- Understanding of modernization strategies for ITS platforms and cloud-based systems.
