About the Role :
We are looking for a Mainframe Tester with in-depth expertise in DB2, COBOL, and Mainframe batch processing. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, hands-on debugging experience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced Agile environment using tools like JIRA. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can ensure the stability, accuracy, and performance of complex enterprise-grade mainframe applications.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design, develop, and execute functional, integration, and regression test cases for Mainframe-based applications.
- Analyze DB2 database structures, perform data validations, and verify SQL queries for accuracy and performance.
- Review and test COBOL programs, ensuring compliance with business logic and functional requirements.
- Debug Mainframe batch jobs, identify root causes of failures, and work closely with development teams for timely resolution.
- Create and maintain test plans, test cases, and test data for ongoing and new projects.
- Collaborate with business analysts and developers during requirement analysis to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
- Utilize Agile testing methodologies, actively participating in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
- Log and track defects using JIRA or similar defect management tools, ensuring accurate reporting and closure.
Mandatory Skills :
- Mainframe Testing Expertise
- Solid experience testing applications on z/OS or equivalent environments.
- DB2 Knowledge
- Strong SQL query writing, data validation, and schema understanding.
- COBOL Proficiency
- Ability to read, understand, and validate COBOL program logic.
- Mainframe Batch Processing
- Experience in executing and debugging JCL-based batch jobs.
- Agile Testing
- Familiarity with Agile principles, ceremonies, and test-driven approaches.
- Debugging Tools
- Experience using tools such as File-AID, QMF, SPUFI, or equivalent.
Good to Have :
- Exposure to CICS testing and transaction monitoring.
- Familiarity with automation frameworks for mainframe testing.
- Understanding of data migration and ETL processes involving mainframe systems.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
