Job Description :

The Db2 Mainframe Systems Programmer is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, performance optimization, and operational support of IBM Db2 on z/OS systems and associated 3rd-party tools.

The role focuses on ensuring high availability, reliability, and efficiency of database environments supporting mission-critical applications within the Distribution sector.

Key Responsibilities :

System Installation & Configuration :

- Implement SMP/E processes for product installation and ongoing maintenance.

Database Administration & Operations :

- Manage Db2 system performance, capacity planning, and tuning to ensure optimal database operations.

- Administer Db2 backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions.

- Oversee Db2 subsystem configurations and support hardware/software integrations.

Security & Compliance :

- Implement and maintain Db2 z/OS infrastructure security, including user access, encryption, and digital certificate management.

- Ensure compliance with corporate security policies and regulatory requirements.

Monitoring & Performance Management :

- Utilize monitoring tools such as CA Detector, Omegamon, and other Db2 utilities to analyze and optimize performance.

- Manage problem identification, root cause analysis, and resolution in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Automation & Process Improvement :

- Develop and implement scripts (REXX, CLIST, JCL) to automate routine maintenance and operational tasks.

- Identify and recommend process and technology improvements for increased system reliability and efficiency.

Change & Incident Management :

- Work within change management frameworks (ServiceNow, ChangeMan) to track, document, and deploy system modifications.

- Provide Level 3 technical support for incidents and participate in on-call rotations as needed.

Documentation & Collaboration :

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation, configuration records, and procedural guides.

- Collaborate with infrastructure, storage, and application teams to ensure end-to-end system stability.

Required Skills & Competencies :

- Core Expertise : IBM Db2 on z/OS Installation, Maintenance, Migration, and Support.

- Backup & Recovery : Implementation of Db2 recovery and resiliency solutions.

- Performance & Capacity Management : Proficient in Db2 tuning and system optimization.

- Infrastructure Tools : CA Detector, Omegamon, SMP/E.

- Programming / Scripting : JCL, REXX, CLIST, TSO.

- Operating System : IBM z/OS environment.

- Security & Certificates : Familiarity with digital certificate management and encryption standards.

- Change Management Tools : ServiceNow, ChangeMan.

- Productivity Tools : MS Office Suite, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome.

Qualifications & Experience :

- Education : Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- Experience : Minimum 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in IBM Db2 z/OS Systems Programming and Administration.

Certifications (Preferred) :

- IBM Certified Db2 Database Administrator z/OS.

- ITIL Foundation or equivalent
