Mainframe Production Support Engineer

Key Responsibilities :

- Provide Level 2/3 production support for mainframe applications and batch processes.

- Monitor and manage batch job execution, including resolution of job failures and delays.

- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to COBOL programs, JCL scripts, DB2, and VSAM files.

- Utilize tools like File-Aid, Endevor, and OPC (Job Scheduling) for analysis, code management, and job control.

- Perform data fixes, job restarts, and reruns as required.

- Handle incident and change management processes using ITIL/ITSM tools.

- Work in coordination with development and infrastructure teams to resolve problems and deploy fixes.

- Document technical procedures, root cause analysis (RCA), and knowledge base articles.

- Perform impact analysis and validation before and after system changes.

- Engage in on-call support rotation as needed.

Mandatory Technical Skills :

- Programming & Tools: COBOL, JCL, VSAM, File-Aid, GDG, Easytrieve

- Database: DB2

- Mainframe Environment: TSO/ISPF

- Scheduling Tools: OPC (IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler)

- Change Management: Endevor

- Protocols: NDM (Connect:Direct), FTP/GFT

- Basic Knowledge: SQL, Unix, Confluence

Preferred Skills :

- Strong understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem Management).

- Experience in working under tight SLAs in 24x7 production environments.

- Good analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

- Effective communication and documentation abilities.

- Experience with process automation and scripting is a plus.
