About the Role :
We are seeking a skilled and self-motivated Mainframe Developer with deep expertise in COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2 to join our development and support teams. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, a solid understanding of mainframe architectures, and a proven ability to manage both development and L3 production support activities in complex enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop, maintain, and enhance Mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2.
- Perform L3 production support including root cause analysis, code fixes, and performance tuning.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across onshore and offshore environments to address incidents, change requests, and new development requirements.
- Participate in production release cycles, ensuring smooth deployments and resolving critical issues promptly during cutover and post-implementation phases.
- Provide on-call support on a rotational basis for critical systems during off-business hours.
- Understand and analyze existing business processes and system flows to provide effective maintenance and enhancements.
- Prepare and maintain accurate technical documentation and operational reports as required.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality assurance processes, change control standards, and security policies.
- Demonstrate strong ownership and accountability in troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving technical issues with minimal supervision.
- Follow and contribute to knowledge base documentation, reusable component libraries, and best practices in Mainframe development.
Required Technical Skills :
Minimum 6 years of hands-on development experience with :
- COBOL (including structured and modular programming techniques)
- JCL (Job Control Language)
- CICS (Customer Information Control System)
- DB2 (Database Management System for z/OS)
- Strong understanding of Mainframe architecture and z/OS operating system.
- Experience in debugging tools like Fault Analyzer, Abend-Aid, or Expeditor.
- Solid knowledge of file systems (VSAM) and batch/online transaction processing.
- Familiarity with ChangeMan, Endevor, or other mainframe source code control tools.
- Exposure to Agile methodology and experience using ticketing tools such as ServiceNow or JIRA.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with business users and global teams.
- Experience working in banking, financial services, or insurance domains is a plus.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
