Mainframe Developer - COBOL/JCL

About the Job :

We are seeking a Mainframes Lead to join our team in Chennai. This is a full-time position requiring 8-10 years of experience in mainframe technologies, with a minimum of 5 years in a technical leadership role. The work schedule is from 2 : 00 PM to 11 : 00 PM IST.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead and mentor a team of mainframe developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.

- Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of mainframe applications using COBOL and JCL.

- Manage source code and change management using tools like Endevor or IDZee, and Harvest or Gitlab.

- Schedule and monitor batch jobs using job schedulers such as ESP or Control M.

- Interact with and manage databases, specifically IMS DB and DB2, to ensure data integrity and application functionality.

- Collaborate with business analysts and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

- Ensure the team follows best practices for coding, testing, and documentation.

- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner.

- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- 8-10 years of experience in mainframe development and support.

- A minimum of 5 years of experience in leading and managing a technical team.

- Proficiency in COBOL and JCL.

- Experience with source control management tools like Endevor, IDZee, Harvest, or Gitlab.

- Hands-on experience with job scheduling tools such as ESP or Control M.

- In-depth knowledge of IMS DB and DB2 databases.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
