Mainframe Developer - COBOL/DB2

Description :

Key Responsibilities :

- Adhere to security, control, and change management processes.

- Design, develop, and maintain Mainframe COBOL programs and DB2 stored procedures to meet support and project requirements.

- Learn and support various custom frameworks (C-based).

- Interface with business and IT teams to understand and translate business requirements into technical specifications and application code.

- Collaborate with IT support teams (DBA, server teams) for successful implementation of solutions.

- Develop and execute unit tests and integration test plans/scripts to validate application changes.

- Participate in the full System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

- Work with business teams for acceptance testing and integration testing.

- Participate in production support and duty rotation, including weekend and off-hour coverage.

- Provide Solution Delivery Methodology artifacts for application components.

- Participate in technical reviews at appropriate development stages.

- Contribute to making the existing system Health Benefit Processing (Smile) GenAI-ready over the next few years.

Required Technical Skills :

- COBOL, DB2, JCL, SQL

- Good knowledge of Endevor, Quick3270, Microfocus ALM, MQ Series, and code vault tools like CVS

- Background in Database Modeling

- Strong IT technical background and mainframe programming experience

- Experience across all components of software delivery (requirements, design, development)

- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve incidents quickly

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Ability to multi-task, prioritize based on business impact and urgency

- Experience in testing and application support tasks (system support, security reviews, maintenance)

- Quick learner with ability to adopt new technologies and methodologies

Nice to Have :

- Knowledge of REXX, VBA, IMS/DC

- Exposure to collaboration tools like SharePoint, Fileshare
