Mainframe Developer - COBOL/DB2

Job Title : Mainframe Developer + DB2

Experience Required : 6+ Years

- Secondary : Trivandrum/Bangalore/Pune/Chandigarh

Job Description :

- Develop, enhance, and maintain applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS.

- Write complex DB2 SQL queries, stored procedures, and performance-tuned programs.

- Analyze business requirements, prepare technical designs, and implement solutions.

- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in batch and online processing systems.

- Participate in code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and system testing.

- Provide L2/L3 support for critical production incidents and perform root cause analysis.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for application migration, modernization, and DB2 upgrades.

- Prepare technical documentation, test plans, and deployment checklists.

- Ensure adherence to coding standards, performance optimization, and best practices.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 6+ years of experience in Mainframe technologies (COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS).

- Strong experience in DB2 SQL queries, stored procedures, performance tuning.

- Knowledge of file handling, utilities (SORT, IDCAMS, IEBGENER, etc.).

- Hands-on experience with End-to-End SDLC analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment.

- Experience in production support (incident, problem, and change management).

- Good understanding of batch scheduling tools (CA-7, Control-M, or equivalent).

- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

- Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Good to Have :

- Exposure to Agile methodologies.

- Knowledge of Rexx, IMS DB/DC, or MQ.

- Experience in modernization/migration projects (Mainframe to Cloud or distributed systems).

- Familiarity with DevOps practices (Git, Jenkins, JIRA).
