Key Responsibilities :

- Engage with customers to understand requirements, pain points, and use cases, ensuring user-centric solutions.

- Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, DB2, IMS, and JCL.

- Create high-level software architecture designs, ensuring scalability, performance, and integration with enterprise systems.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product owners, architects, and designers to deliver solutions.

- Define and implement testing strategies, ensuring software quality, reliability, and compliance.

- Develop and maintain back-end components such as APIs, batch jobs, and transaction processing systems.

- Optimize application performance and introduce new technologies/methodologies to improve efficiency.

- Ensure robust security practices, including data encryption, anonymization, and compliance with regulatory standards.

- Monitor and troubleshoot production issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption.

- Stay updated with emerging mainframe technologies and industry trends to recommend continuous improvements.

Education & Qualifications :

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

- Advanced certifications in Mainframe Technologies (preferred).

Experience :

- 6+ years of IT experience, with 4+ years in mainframe development.

- Practical expertise in two programming languages or advanced proficiency in at least one (COBOL, JCL, DB2, IMS).

Technical Skills :

Mandatory :

- COBOL : Development and maintenance of batch and online applications.

- JCL (Job Control Language) : Job scheduling, batch processing, and automation.

- DB2

- IMS DB / IMS DC : Transaction and database management.

- VSAM : File handling and dataset management.

- Strong understanding of mainframe operating environments and systems integration.

Preferred :

- Experience with test-driven development, CI/CD, and agile methodologies.

- Familiarity with APIs, microservices, and modern integration techniques.

- Exposure to application security practices in mainframe environments
