About the Role :
We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to lead our FPGA Design Group within the 5G Engineering team in Bangalore. The role involves overseeing the development of advanced FPGA-based solutions for complete 5G RU systems which include 10G/25G/100G ethernet, ORAN and other critical DL/UL signal processing components. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in FPGA design, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record in delivering high-performance solutions for 5G wireless communication systems.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements :
The role involves around 20% team management and 80% in technical involvement.
Technical Requirement :
- Proficient in VHDL/Verilog and System Verilog for RTL design, Digital Electronics and Verification.
- Experience in FPGA device selection/decision and resource estimation, critical timing analysis is a must.
- Lead the FPGA engineers during complete FPGA design, development and debug cycles.
- Architect and optimize FPGA designs using Xilinx/Altera tools to meet stringent timing, power, and area constraints.
- Able to understand the specification / customer requirements and able to bifurcate the specification as RTL modules and software modules.
- Should be able to understand the hardware design, schematics, embedded design and mixed signal paths.
- Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Tcl, Python) for automation of FPGA design flows.
- Should be able to guide the team in writing test bench and testcases to run the behavioral/timing simulations.
- Strong understanding of 3GPP 5G NR standards and RF system (mixed signals) will be advantage.
- Good hands on with AXI, PCIe, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, JESD204B/C protocols etc is a must.
- Hands-on experience with MATLAB and Simulink is an added advantage
- Should be well versed in using CRO, VSA, Multimeter, signal Analyzers and other equipment
Project Management :
- 12-15 years of experience in FPGA design and development, with at least 5 years in technical leadership and management role. Able to manage a small team of 4-10 member FPGA team.
- Other than 5G, role also involves handling other FPGA projects where the person may be fully individual contributor or may work with small FPGA team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (RF, DSP, embedded, and systems engineering) to define system requirements and integrate FPGA designs as required.
- Develop project plans, timelines, and resource estimates, ensuring on-time delivery of FPGA deliverables.
- Manage risks, track progress, and communicate updates to stakeholders and senior management.
- Drive the adoption of best practices in FPGA design, including high-level synthesis (HLS), IP integration, and automated verification flows.
- Stay updated on emerging FPGA technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance team capabilities.
- Interact with customers to understand requirements and present technical solutions as and when project/ situation demands.
- Collaborate with FPGA vendors (e.g., AMD/Xilinx, Intel/Altera) to leverage new device features and resolve tool-related issues.
