About Lecxe :
Lecxe is an AI-native consultancy building Business Operating Systems for Indian MSMEs. We solve real, unglamorous problems Agentic ERP adoption, inventory management, vendor negotiations and distribution, HR, Finance and other support functions, AI personal assistant, and voice-first data entry on WhatsApp by shipping software that adapts to how MSMEs already work, instead of forcing them to change. We work directly with founders and operators, ship in weeks not quarters, and our work shows up in their daily business the day after we deploy. We are building Lecxe to be a place you are genuinely excited to walk in every day.
About the Role :
This is not a traditional developer role, and it is not a traditional client-facing role either. It is both and that is exactly the point. As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Lecxe, you will spend most of your time at client sites : factories, distribution firms, restaurant chains, law offices. You will sit with the founders team, watch how they actually work, understand what breaks, and identify what is worth building. Then you will build it right there, in context, often the same week.
You sit between the Product Manager and the Junior Developer in the org. The Product Manager owns architecture and engineering standards; the Junior Developer executes assigned work. You bridge them on the ground translating the messy reality of a clients operations into clean technical scope, then shipping the first working version yourself. You are the person who makes discovery and delivery happen in the same breath. The people who do this well combine a developers instinct for how systems work with the communication skills to earn a founders trust in the first meeting.
What Youll Do :
1. Client Discovery & Requirements :
- Embed at client sites and run working sessions with founders, operators, and floor staff to map their actual workflows not what they think they need, but what they actually do.
- Translate ambiguous, often contradictory business problems into clear, scoped technical requirements the team back at base can build from.
- Identify the fastest path to a working pilot : what to build first, what to defer, and where the real leverage is.
- Represent Lecxe professionally in every client interaction you are often the only Lecxe person they see.
2. On-Site Engineering & Deployment :
- Write and ship production-ready code at or near the client site features, integrations, and fixes working across the full stack : Next.js, FastAPI, Postgres, LangGraph.
- Handle integrations with the systems clients actually use : Tally, basic ERPs, WhatsApp Business API, payment gateways, email.
- Run go-live deployments on-site : configure the environment, migrate data, test with real users, and stay until it works.
- Debug production issues in real time, with the client watching. Stay calm, diagnose fast, fix it.
3. Communication & Coordination :
- Serve as the live feedback loop between the client and Lecxes core engineering team surface blockers early, communicate scope changes clearly, and never let a surprise reach the Product Manager without a proposed resolution.
- Train client staff on the software you deploy : non-technical users, operators, and in some cases the clients own IT team.
- Write crisp handover notes and implementation documentation after every engagement so the next person walking into that client knows exactly what was built and why.
4. Continuous Improvement :
- Feed structured insight from the field back into product decisions : what clients actually struggle with, what workarounds theyve invented, and where the product needs to evolve.
- Participate in code reviews with the core engineering team and apply feedback; this role grows toward the Product Manager track.
What Were Looking For :
Must-Haves :
- Academic rigour via top institutes.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in a software engineering role where you shipped code to real users not just training tickets or internal tooling.
- Solid working knowledge of TypeScript/JavaScript and Python : enough to read unfamiliar code, reason about it, and debug it under pressure.
- Comfort with relational databases SQL queries, schema design, joins, indexes at a working level.
- Enough familiarity with the stack (Next.js, FastAPI, Postgres) to be dangerous on day one and fully productive within your first month.
- Excellent spoken English. You can sit across from a non-technical founder, explain what you are building and why, handle pushback, and leave the meeting with their confidence intact.
- High agency and composure under ambiguity. You do not wait to be told. You identify the next step yourself and act on it.
- Willingness and genuine enthusiasm for spending the majority of your working time at client sites, including Tier-2/Tier-3 cities.
Nice-to-Haves :
- Any hands-on experience with LLM APIs, agent frameworks (LangGraph, LangChain), prompt engineering, or RAG pipelines.
- Prior exposure to client-facing work consulting, implementation, solutions engineering, or even a founders office internship.
- Side projects shipped to real users, especially ones that broke in production and taught you something.
