LeadSquared - Senior Engineering Manager - Backend Architecture

We are looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager / Senior Engineering Manager with strong backend expertise and a passion for building AI-driven products. This role combines technical leadership, people management, and individual contribution, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced product environment.

You will lead a team of engineers while actively contributing to the design and development of scalable systems, including cutting-edge LLM-based and agentic AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 15 - 20 engineers, fostering a high-performance engineering culture

- Drive architecture, design, and technical decision-making for scalable backend systems

- Act as a hands-on contributor when required participating in coding, reviews, and problem-solving

- Design and build AI-driven products, including LLM-powered and agentic AI systems

- Ensure system scalability, performance, reliability, and security

- Own end-to-end delivery execution, including planning, tracking, and stakeholder

communication

- Collaborate closely with product, design, and cross-functional teams to translate business

needs into technical solutions

- Establish best practices in coding, testing, deployment, and DevOps

Required Skills & Experience :

- 8 - 12 years of experience in software engineering with strong backend development expertise

- Proven experience in Java (Spring Boot) and/or Python (FastAPI)

- Prior experience in product-based companies is strongly preferred

- Hands-on experience building or working with LLMs, AI agents, or agentic AI systems

- Demonstrated ability to lead and scale engineering teams (15+ members)

- Strong understanding of system design, distributed systems, and microservices architecture

- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and modern DevOps practices

- Ability to balance hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience in building AI-first or data-intensive products

- Familiarity with MLOps, prompt engineering, or AI orchestration frameworks

- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation and execution excellence
