We are seeking a highly experienced and creative Lead Web Designer to drive visual design and superior User Experience (UX) across all our web and digital interfaces.

Based permanently in Leicester, this leadership role requires 610+ years of total experience, including 2+ years in a formal leadership or mentorship capacity.

You will be responsible for defining standards, leading research efforts, and governing our digital design system.

Key Responsibilities & Design Leadership :

1. UX/UI Strategy & Delivery :

- End-to-End Design : Own the complete UX/UI lifecycle, transitioning smoothly from initial user research and concept ideation through to the creation of detailed high-fidelity prototypes and final specifications.

- Design Governance : Lead the definition and governance of the design system, ensuring consistency, scalability, and ease of use across all digital products.

- Visual Standards : Drive and enforce strict brand consistency and visual integrity across all digital properties.

Accessibility & Quality Assurance :

Accessibility (Mandatory) : Ensure all designs meet or exceed current accessibility standards, specifically WCAG 2.1 compliance, providing an inclusive experience for all users.

- Implementation Quality : Collaborate closely with development teams (Frontend Engineers) throughout the build process to ensure the final implementation perfectly reflects the approved design and maintains high visual quality.

Mentorship & Technical Fluency :

- Team Leadership : Mentor junior and mid-level designers, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous learning, and best practice adoption within the design team.

- Design Tools : Utilize expertise in industry-standard design and prototyping tools (Figma/Adobe XD) and the wider Adobe Creative Cloud (CC) suite.

- Technical Foundations : Possess a strong foundational understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to communicate technical feasibility and constraints effectively with engineering partners.

Required Skills & Experience Summary :

- Design Tools (Mandatory) : Expert proficiency in Figma or Adobe XD for prototyping and Adobe CC for creative assets.

- Core Concepts : Deep experience designing, managing, and governing design systems.

- Technical Basics : Foundational knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

- Analytics : Experience using analytics and A/B testing tools to inform design decisions.

Preferred / Nice to Have :

- Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks like React, Vue, or Angular.

- Knowledge of CSS frameworks such as Tailwind or Bootstrap.

- Practical experience using analytics platforms like Google Analytics (GA), Google Tag Manager (GTM), and heatmaps for user behavior analysis
