Lead/Technical Database Administrator - SQL Server

Job Summary :

We are looking for a seasoned Database Administrator/Lead Tech with a strong background in MS SQL Server and deep expertise in performance tuning, database design, and large-scale data management. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring database reliability, security, and scalability while collaborating closely with application development teams and leading key database initiatives.

Key Responsibilities :

- Administer, configure, and maintain MS SQL Server databases across development, testing, and production environments.

- Design and implement Highly Available and Disaster Recovery (HADR) solutions.

- Perform advanced performance tuning and query optimization using execution plans, Perfmon, Extended Events, and DMVs.

- Collaborate with developers to design scalable and efficient database schemas and stored procedures.

- Troubleshoot database issues related to performance, reliability, and availability.

- Ensure data security and compliance by implementing access controls and monitoring.

- Develop and maintain T-SQL scripts and automation tools for routine database operations.

- Work with large-scale datasets, optimizing storage and query efficiency.

- Participate in capacity planning, backups, and recovery strategies.

- Mentor junior DBAs and contribute to the development of best practices.

Basic Qualifications :

- B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

- 7+ years of hands-on experience with MS SQL Server database administration.

- Deep understanding of :

1. Infrastructure design for databases

2. High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HADR)

3. Database performance tuning and security

4. T-SQL scripting and automation

- 7+ years of performance tuning and query optimization using tools like execution plans, Perfmon, Extended Events, and DMVs.

- Solid experience managing and optimizing large datasets.

- 4+ years of experience working closely with application developers to implement efficient and scalable database designs.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience working with PostgreSQL and MongoDB in production environments.

- Exposure to cloud platforms like Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or GCP Cloud SQL.

- Familiarity with database DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and version control for database objects.

- Experience with scripting/automation in PowerShell or Python.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to lead technical discussions and reviews.
