Lead Software Engineer - Node.js

Job Description :

You will work on a backend platform that processes complex, real-world data at scale. The problems are rarely green-field CRUD; they involve ambiguous inputs, imperfect data, performance constraints, and edge cases that dont show up in happy-path demos.

What Youll Do :

- Design and build TypeScript-first backend systems that handle complex data flows and non-trivial logic.

- Write code that is performance-aware, memory-efficient, and built to scale under real workloads.

- Debug and reason about issues that cross abstraction boundaries (data, libraries, runtime behavior).

- Build internal utilities, libraries, or frameworks that other engineers rely on.

- Make pragmatic trade-offs between correctness, performance, and maintainability.

- Collaborate with product and engineering peers to shape solutions without being constrained by rigid specs.

- Conduct peer reviews ensuring the code is maintainable, readable, and efficient

- Effective communication skills, particularly in documenting and explaining code and technical concepts.

What Were Looking For :

Must-Have Skills :

- Strong proficiency in TypeScript (non-negotiable), with production experience in Node.js.

- Excellent grasp of core programming fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, and complexity trade-offs.

- Strong understanding of RESTful API & GraphQL design and implementation.

- Experience working on systems that go beyond simple request-response flows

- Comfortable reading unfamiliar codebases, specifications, or formats and figuring things out independently.

- Proven ability to debug subtle issues involving edge cases, data integrity, or runtime behavior.

- 6-8 years of professional software development experience using TypeScript

Nice-to-Have Skills :

- Familiarity with NoSQL databases (Mongo preferred), and the ability to design and optimize database queries.

- Knowledge of ElasticSearch / OpenSearch, Redis, RabbitMQ or similar

- Experience with Dockers and Containers
