Role Purpose :
We are looking for a hands-on Lead Firmware Engineer who will lead and grow our Embedded Hardware and Embedded Firmware teams and take end-to-end responsibility for the technical direction, architecture, execution quality, and delivery of embedded electronics used in industrial drives, servo inverters, frequency inverters, and motion/safety products.
This role is not a pure people manager. The successful candidate will actively contribute to architecture, design and code reviews, design and code if needed, technical problem solving, and critical debugging, while also mentoring engineers, aligning teams, and ensuring disciplined engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Technical Leadership and Architecture Ownership :
- Own the overall embedded electronics architecture spanning MCU/SoC hardware design, firmware architecture, and HW-FW partitioning.
- Define technology roadmaps for microcontrollers, power management, and firmware frameworks.
- Drive design decisions balancing performance, cost, reliability, cybersecurity, and manufacturability.
2. Hands-On Engineering Contribution :
- Actively participate in hardware architecture, schematic, and PCB layout reviews.
- Support hardware bring-up and early prototype debugging using oscilloscope, logic analyzer, and JTAG/SWD.
- Guide teams in root-cause analysis of field, EMC, reliability, or performance issues.
3. Embedded Hardware & Firmware Leadership :
- Guide the team on embedded schematic design, power supply architecture, and component lifecycle management.
- Lead firmware development for low-level drivers, RTOS, bootloaders, and communication stacks (EtherCAT, CAN, PROFINET).
- Ensure compliance with secure development practices and cybersecurity requirements (e.g., IEC 62443).
4. Cross-Functional System Ownership :
- Work closely with Controls, System Architecture, Functional Safety, and Cybersecurity stakeholders.
- Support certifications, audits, and customer escalations.
5. Team Leadership and Process Excellence :
- Lead, mentor, and technically coach hardware and firmware engineers.
- Establish and enforce structured development processes, configuration management, and CI concepts.
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- 9 to 12+ years of experience in embedded systems development.
- Strong background in both embedded firmware and hardware.
- Experience with industrial electronics, preferably servo drives or frequency inverters.
Must Have :
- Deep understanding of MCU/SoC hardware design, analog/digital circuits, and power management.
- Experience with PCB design flows, EMC/EMI fundamentals, and lab equipment (scope, logic analyzer).
- Strong embedded C expertise, RTOS/bare-metal development, and JTAG/SWD debugging.
- Experience with industrial communication interfaces and bootloader concepts.
