Job Title : Lead Database Administrator (Oracle)
Job Summary :
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Database Administrator (DBA) to oversee the design, implementation, performance, and security of mission-critical Oracle database environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Oracle 11g19c, strong experience in performance tuning, high availability architecture, and a proactive approach to database operations. This role requires hands-on technical leadership, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to support production workloads in a 24x7 environment.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Database Installation, Configuration & Upgrades :
- Install, configure, and manage Oracle Database versions 11g through 19c in production and non-production environments.
- Perform database patching, upgrades, and migration activities while ensuring minimal downtime.
- Configure and maintain database instances, listener configurations, and environment settings.
2. Performance Monitoring & Optimization :
- Continuously monitor database performance, health, and resource usage.
- Perform advanced performance tuning and troubleshooting using AWR, ADDM, and other Oracle diagnostics tools.
- Optimize SQL queries, indexes, and schema structures to enhance application throughput and stability.
3. Backup, Recovery & Cloning :
- Implement robust backup and recovery strategies using RMAN.
- Manage database restores, point-in-time recovery, duplication, and environment cloning for development and QA teams.
- Ensure backup integrity, retention policies, and compliance with disaster recovery protocols.
4. High Availability & Advanced Oracle Technologies :
- Implement and maintain Oracle RAC, ASM, and Data Guard for high availability and disaster recovery.
- Monitor and manage RAC cluster performance, failover mechanisms, and data synchronization.
- Support DR drills and ensure readiness for unplanned outages.
5. Security & User Administration :
- Manage user accounts, roles, privileges, profiles, and security policies.
- Ensure data protection, encryption, and compliance with organizational security standards.
- Conduct periodic audits and vulnerability reviews of database environments.
6. Operational Support :
- Provide 24x7 on-call production support on a rotational basis.
- Troubleshoot database incidents, performance bottlenecks, and environment issues.
- Coordinate with infrastructure, application, and support teams for cross-functional debugging.
7. Automation & Scripting :
- Automate recurring DBA tasks using Shell scripting, PL/SQL, or other tools.
- Develop monitoring scripts, automated alerting mechanisms, and proactive maintenance routines.
- Improve operational efficiency by reducing manual intervention.
8. Documentation & Compliance :
- Maintain complete documentation of database configurations, architectures, procedures, and standards.
- Ensure compliance with IT policies, regulatory requirements, security guidelines, and best practices.
- Participate in audits and contribute to process enhancements.
Qualifications & Skills :
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 6 to 10 years of experience in Oracle Database Administration.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle 11g/12c/18c/19c, RAC, ASM, and Data Guard.
- Strong SQL, PL/SQL, UNIX/Linux command expertise.
- Solid understanding of performance tuning, backup/recovery, and high availability architectures.
- Certifications preferred : Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or higher.
