We are building our first autonomous AI engineer, and we are looking for a Lead Data Scientist to help architect and scale its intelligence from day zero.

This is not a role for someone who wants to be a small part of a large machine.

This is an opportunity to own the core AI foundations of the product, shape the technical direction, and act as a co-creator of both the product and the engineering culture at Guickly.

You will work at the intersection of AI models, data systems, and real-world product use cases, partnering closely with founding engineers, product leaders, and design partners.

Key Responsibilities :

- Architect and build the core intelligence layer of our autonomous AI engineer.

- Design, train, evaluate, and iterate on ML / DL / LLM-based systems powering autonomous workflows.

- Solve complex problems at the intersection of AI models, data pipelines, and backend systems.

- Define modeling strategies, experimentation frameworks, evaluation metrics, and quality standards.

- Work directly with design partners and early customers to translate real-world needs into robust AI solutions.

- Drive end-to-end ownership of data science problemsfrom data exploration and modeling to deployment readiness.

- Collaborate closely with backend, platform, and product teams to productionize models at scale.

- Establish best practices around model reliability, interpretability, bias, and performance in production.

- Define and influence the technical roadmap, AI vision, and data science culture for the company.

- Mentor and guide future data scientists as the team grows.

What Were Looking For :

- 6- 10 years of experience in data science, machine learning, or applied AI roles.

- Deep, almost obsessive passion for building AI systems that work in the real world.

- Strong intuition and product tasteyou know when a model or experience feels right.

- First-principles thinker who thrives in ambiguity and zero-to-one problem spaces.

- Strong generalist ability to own problems end-to-end, from modeling and experimentation to customer impact.

- Experience working with LLMs, deep learning models, and complex ML systems.

- Solid foundations in statistics, experimentation, and model evaluation.

- Hands-on experience with Python, modern ML frameworks (PyTorch / TensorFlow), and data tooling.

- A low-ego, high-impact collaborator who elevates the people around them.

- Grit, ownership mindset, and the drive to build from scratch and see it through.

Nice to Have :

- Experience building autonomous or agent-based AI systems.

- Exposure to ML systems in production (monitoring, retraining, drift detection).

- Background in early-stage startups or founding engineering teams.

- Experience collaborating closely with product and design from day one.
