Job Description :
We are looking for a Lead Data / Platform Engineer to join our Ascend Cloud Foundation Platform team. In this role, you will lead a high-performing agile team and help unlock the power of data to create meaningful opportunities for consumers, businesses, and society.

Reporting to the Engineering Director, you will drive innovation, ensure high technical standards, and deliver scalable, secure, and high-quality data solutions across cloud platforms.

Roles & Responsibilities :
- Lead and mentor an agile technical team, fostering innovation, learning, and collaboration

- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data lake architectures

- Own the codebase and technical applications end-to-end

- Ensure delivery of high-quality, secure, and reliable software solutions

- Collaborate with risk, security, and compliance teams to meet regulatory and data security requirements (e.g., GDPR, PCI DSS)

- Identify overlapping technical requirements across teams and contribute to technology roadmaps

- Support and implement Agile methodologies to deliver high-value outcomes

- Drive best practices in DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code

Required Qualifications & Skills :
- Strong experience with DevOps & IaC tools : Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, Git, Jenkins

- Hands-on expertise with Apache Spark and Hadoop

Strong experience with AWS services, including (but not limited to) :

- AWS Glue

- S3

- Step Functions

- Lambda

- EventBridge

- SQS

- Lake Formation

- Proven experience building data pipelines and data lakes

- Experience across the full software development lifecycle

- Proficiency in Scala or Python for data engineering applications

- Experience with Application Lifecycle Management tools such as Bitbucket and Jira

- Strong understanding of configuration-as-code principles and API integrations

- Ability to analyze, investigate, and compare large datasets

- Experience with automated testing methodologies

- Ability to explain technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

- Write clean, scalable, reusable code following SOLID principles and standard design patterns
