We are seeking a Data Engineer Lead with proven expertise in Microsoft Fabric or Azure to drive the design, development, and optimization of enterprise-grade data platforms. You will play a key role in shaping our modern data architecture leveraging Fabric's capabilities (Lakehouse, Warehouse, Dataflows Gen2, Pipelines), while bringing strong experience in Azure Synapse, Databricks, and Azure Data Engineering.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead the design and development of scalable data solutions using Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Warehouse, Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Notebooks).
- Architect robust Medallion Architectures (Bronze, Silver, Gold) on OneLake.
- Build advanced ETL/ELT pipelines using PySpark, SQL, and Fabric-native components.
- Design high-performance Dimensional Models (Star/Snowflake Schema) and Data Marts for enterprise BI and reporting.
- Implement best practices for data security, governance, and compliance (RBAC, RLS, Purview integration).
- Drive performance tuning, cost optimization, and workload management within Fabric.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and provide technical leadership.
- Collaborate with data architects, business analysts, and stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
- Contribute to DevOps/DataOps processes, including CI/CD pipelines, Git-based deployments, and automation for Fabric workloads.
- Stay updated with Microsoft Fabric enhancements and evaluate new features for adoption.
Required Skills and Experience :
- Minimum 3 year hands-on experience designing and implementing solutions in Microsoft Fabric or Azure (Lakehouse, Warehouse, Pipelines, Notebooks).
- 8+ years overall experience in Data Engineering and Data Platform Development.
- Deep expertise with :
a. Azure Synapse Analytics (dedicated & serverless SQL pools, Spark pools)
b. Azure Databricks (advanced PySpark, Delta Lake optimization)
c. Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Gen2 architectures
- Strong programming and scripting skills
- SQL (complex queries, stored procedures, tuning)
- PySpark (data wrangling, transformations)
- Azure and/or Databricks AI Integration and products
- Advanced knowledge of :
a. Delta Lake, Time Travel, Schema Evolution
b. Data Warehouse / Data Lakehouse Design Principles
- Strong understanding of Power BI integration (DirectLake, Dataset management).
