The Cloud Engineer Lead is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure to ensure high availability, scalability, security, and disaster recovery. Responsibilities include automating infrastructure deployments, optimizing network performance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align cloud solutions with business needs.

Job Responsibilities :

- Create and configure data processing and web application infrastructure using Azure services. That includes setting up storage accounts, event hubs, AKS, Databricks components, gateways, databases, service accounts both on prod and non-prod environments.

- Implement container security, networking, ingress management, service mesh, and workload scaling.

- Establish and maintain multi-environment deployment strategies (Development, QA, UAT, Production) with proper controls and release processes.

- Review infrastructure configurations, automation scripts, and deployment artifacts created by development teams to ensure compliance with security and operational standards.

- Define and maintain Helm charts, Kubernetes manifests, and deployment standards.

- Integrate security scanning, compliance checks, vulnerability assessments, and policy enforcement into deployment pipelines.

- Build and maintain enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines supporting infrastructure, application, and data platform deployments.

- Ensure platform availability, performance, security, and operational efficiency through continuous monitoring and optimization.

- Standardize release management, version control, branching strategies, and deployment governance.

- Lead cloud modernization and migration initiatives from Azure to GCP, including assessment, planning, deployment, and optimization activities.

- Monitor and optimize cloud spending through FinOps practices, rightsizing, and resource utilization analysis.

- Design and implement automation and orchestration solutions to streamline development workflows, accelerate delivery, and enhance operational efficiency.

- Review proposed architectures, provide feedback and make sure it's compliant with security standards and FedEx environment.

Required Qualifications :

- Practical experience and expertise with Azure services (Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Event Hubs, Azure Storage Accounts, Azure Functions, ADF, Azure Databricks, Azure Kubernetes Service).

- IaC : automated infrastructure provisioning using Terraform (ARM will be a plus).

- Azure DevOps pipelines (YAML).

- Strong experience with Git-based source control platforms (Azure (ADO) Repos, GitHub)

- Experience with enterprise observability platforms including Azure Monitoring/alerts, Log Analytics, Grafana, Application Insights.

- Experience in containerizing applications (Docker Images) and establishing Kubernetes deployment best practices.

- Strong understanding of cloud security principles, identity management, secrets management, encryption, and network security.

- Azure Active Directory (Azure AD authentication, users and groups, roles).

- Good understanding of Azure Networking Services.

- Hands-on with Microservice deployment and configuration using manifest files/HELM.

- Experience in scripting languages : PowerShell/ Bash/ Python.

- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including deploying and managing cloud infrastructure and services.

Minimum Qualifications :

- Bachelor's Degree/equivalent in computer science, engineering, or information systems and/or equivalent formal training or work experience.

- Programming skills (preferably Java or Kotlin).

- Very good knowledge and understanding of communication protocols (across all layers)

- Seven (7) years' experience in cloud engineering or related field.

- Experience providing leadership in a general planning or consulting setting.

- Some experience as a leader or a senior member of multi-function project teams.

- Strong oral and written communication skills.

- Understanding Agile team-oriented environment.
