Lead Architect - Backend Technologies

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Lead Architect to design and govern a secure, scalable API-led microservices architecture for a headless banking workflow platform.

The platform will be hosted on AWS Cloud and built using Spring Boot microservices integrated with BPM / Workflow engines.

This role will be responsible for end-to-end architecture, technology decisions, and ensuring that critical non-functional requirements such as scalability, security, compliance, and performance are achieved.

Key Responsibilities :

- Define and own the overall system architecture for API-led microservices solutions.

- Design headless architectures integrated with BPM / Workflow engines.

- Define the microservices strategy, including :

- BFF (Backend for Frontend) microservices

- Domain / business microservices

- Integration and orchestration patterns

- Establish API standards, governance, and versioning strategies.

- Design and implement AWS cloud architecture (VPC, EC2, EKS, RDS, IAM, etc.).

- Ensure banking-grade security, compliance, and audit readiness.

- Guide engineering teams on Spring Boot best practices, microservices communication patterns, and data architecture.

- Review solution designs, architecture decisions, and critical code components.

- Collaborate with stakeholders, product managers, and engineering teams.

- Mentor senior developers and enforce architectural governance and best practices.

Required Skills & Experience :

Strong experience with :

- Spring Boot ecosystem

- API-led architecture and design

Hands-on experience with :

- BPM / Workflow engines (Camunda, Activiti, Flowable, etc.)

- AWS Cloud (VPC, EC2, EKS, RDS, IAM, networking, security)

Strong understanding of :

- BFF (Backend for Frontend) architecture pattern

- Service orchestration vs choreography

- Caching strategies and performance optimization

- API security frameworks (OAuth2, JWT)

Preferred :

- Experience in banking or financial services domain

- Experience designing enterprise-scale distributed systems

Soft Skills :

- Ability to influence architecture decisions across teams

- Strong leadership and mentoring capability
