Job Overview :

We are seeking a mature, motivated, and mission-driven Lead Android Engineer to join our lean technology team. This pivotal role involves sustaining existing solutions and spearheading the development of our forthcoming Community Health Integrated Platform, designed to be a model innovation for the Central Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Working within a large technical team of 60+ members, you will lead the build and maintenance of robust, compliant, and scalable Android application modules, applying deep knowledge of technology to make a positive impact on underserved communities.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead a team of Android developers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and project oversight for various Android application projects, leveraging 3+ years of experience in leading development teams.

- Drive the design, development, and testing of new features from inception to rollout for Android applications, ensuring high-quality, scalable, testable, maintainable, and reliable code.

- Work across the entire stack, from code commit to production deployment, with the ultimate goal of delivering the best possible user experience.

- Collaborate closely with backend developers, designers, QA, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and various leads (STA-Arch, Implementation, Program, Impact, Development) to deliver well-architected and high-quality solutions.

- Continuously research, evaluate, and implement new mobile products, applications, protocols, and cutting-edge technologies to maximize development efficiency and product innovation.

- Apply a solid understanding of operating system fundamentals such as processes, inter-process communication, multi-threading primitives, race conditions, and deadlocks in Android development.

- Implement multithreading, process optimization, and system resource planning best practices in native Android applications.

- Utilize expertise in consuming Web Services and Data parsing using JSON, XML, etc.

- Adhere to Object-Oriented (OO) designs, database design principles, data structures, and algorithms in all development efforts.

- Work effectively within an Agile team, demonstrating familiarity with Agile best practices and managing individual task deliverables to meet project deadlines.

- Possess a strong sense of user engagement, enabling deep dives to understand real end-users' needs and drive continuous product improvement.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

- 5+ years of professional working experience in developing Android applications.

- More than 3 years of experience in leading a team of developers on various projects.

- Good exposure to Android Studio/Android SDKs, Android tools, Kotlin, and relevant frameworks.

- Familiarity with industry-standard design patterns for commonly encountered situations in Android development.

- A solid understanding of operating system fundamentals (processes, inter-process communication, multi-threading primitives, race conditions, deadlocks).

- Good knowledge of multithreading, process optimization, and system resource planning in native Android.

- Experience using Web Services and Data parsing using JSON, XML, etc.

- Good knowledge of OO designs, database design, data structures, and algorithms.

- Experience working in an Agile team, familiarity with Agile best practices, and ability to manage individual task deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Background in public health, ICT4D, and digital health standard frameworks.

- Experience with building offline-online capable applications.

- Experience with facial biometrics, Near Field Communication (NFC), and edge analytics.

- Development of currently live Android applications with over 1,000 downloads and a 4+ rating on Playstore.

Projects and Responsibilities (Specific Focus Areas) :

- Lead development for applications such as the Community Health Integrated Platform for ASHAs, ANMs, and MOCs.

- Contribute to the Khushi Baby Reproductive and Child Health Solution.

- Develop the Decision Support Tool for Community Health Officers.

- Work on the Health Worker Diligence and High-Risk Prediction module in collaboration with Google AI for Social Good.

- Implement IoT device integration, facial biometric module integration, NFC device integration for decentralized health records, and NDHM implementation.

- Develop the Health and Wellness Center Digital Platform.

- Ensure end-to-end encryption, version control and backwards compatibility, automated testing, and systematic documentation.

- Conduct field tests and analyze automated user metrics to understand and continuously improve the user interface.
